Hi I'm reaching out because I'm looking for some more information about Haystack Mt. and the surrounding hills in Pawlet VT. I'm researching for a potential short documentary piece... I used to live in Rupert and have climbed the mountain several times. Growing up I've always heard of the range of hills being referred to as the "Woman of the Mountain" or "the sleeping woman" I'm really curious to know if anyone knows how that name came about. or if there is any other history tide to the name. Perhaps it's something only a few locals call it but I'd like to know if anyone else calls it by a similar name. I'm having trouble finding any mention of it online. Any help you can provide for this is greatly appreciated! ~ Alex Watrous
