There is something about a family style meal that changes the whole mood of a morning.

At The Pelican, breakfast and lunch aren’t just included, they’re an experience.

Dishes passed around the table, plates piled high, strangers becoming friends over second helpings and slow cups of coffee. That’s the Low Country way, and it’s the only way we know how to do it.

Our menu is fresh, soulful, and anchored in Southern tradition, with just enough creativity to keep things interesting.

And some of our favorite memories of this place live in the dishes our guests can’t stop thinking about long after they’ve checked out.

So we want to know - what’s the meal that’s stayed with you?

The dish you still think about?

Drop it in the comments and let’s reminisce together.

Just over the dunes, the world gets a little quieter.

There’s something about a stretch of beach that feels like yours… unhurried, uncrowded, and completely unspoiled.

The noise of everyday life doesn’t follow you here. It can’t quite make it over the dunes.

Pawleys Island doesn’t beg for your attention. It just holds it. Wide open, studded with seashells, and generous with its quiet, this is the kind of shoreline that slows your breathing without you even realizing it.

Just steps from The Pelican. No crowds, no noise. Just you, the salt air, and as much stillness as you need.

We’re gearing up for a big weekend!

60 years of the Pawleys Island 4th of July Parade…

The Pelican has its own way of doing the 4th, and honestly, we think we’ve got it figured out. It starts with breakfast and a Bloody Mary and mimosa bar (because that’s just good sense) then we take to the streets for the parade, fuel back up with Cooper’s barbecue, and stand on the beach with our necks craned to the sky waiting for that fighter plane flyover.

Goosebumps. Every. Single. Time.

And then we nap. Collectively and without apology.

Happy 4th, Pawleys Island. Here’s to 60 more!

This Father’s Day, we celebrated the man who keeps The Pelican running - in every sense of the word.

Owner, caretaker, and the kind of person who is never too far from whatever needs doing. Running an Inn like this isn’t a job that clocks out. It’s early mornings and late evenings. It’s caring about the details that most people will never notice but would absolutely feel if they were missing. It’s a deep, genuine love for this place and for the people who walk through its doors.

And it turns out, that’s not so different from what makes a great father.

To Bruce - thank you for pouring yourself into this Inn, this team, and your family with the same open hands. The Pelican is what it is because of you.

We hope you all had a happy Father’s Day!

This May, Travel + Leisure featured The Pelican Inn, and seeing this place we love so deeply described in their online pages stopped us right in our tracks.

They called us a “historic charmer” - which, after 180-something years, we’ll proudly accept. And they spotlighted the things that matter most to us; the eight rooms that feel like home the moment you walk in, the private marshside dock, and the easy beach access. And the meals… oh, the meals.

Breakfast and lunch made from what’s fresh and what’s in season, rooted in Southern tradition, but never afraid to surprise you. That’s the table we set here, every single morning and afternoon, for every single guest.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to finally plan that trip to Pawleys Island, consider this it.

They said it once. They said it twice. And now, three years running, it’s official.

Pawleys Island has been named the Best Beach in South Carolina for the third consecutive year by 10Best, and honestly? We’re not surprised, but we are absolutely thrilled.

This one belongs to the island itself. The wide, uncrowded shoreline. The unhurried pace.

There’s nowhere quite like it, and clearly, the rest of the country is starting to catch on.

To everyone who voted, who has made the trip, who keeps coming back, thank you.

And if you’ve been dreaming about a summer stay on the best beach in South Carolina, we just happen to know a little Inn right in the heart of it all.

A few nights are still available this season, don’t let summer slip by without it.

It’s Friday - and if you know, you know.

Our Friday ribs have become a much anticipated tradition here at the Inn. Bruce is our grill master and the ribs are some of the best you’ll ever have.

And there’s a secret to the sauce. Curious? Check out the full details in our Journal (link in profile.)
