Water Supply Update

Over the weekend we received our test results from the water main break and we passed. The Health Department then gave us approval to put our second water supply back in service, which we did.
Thank you for your patience and water conservation.

Water Supply Update

The water main for our 2nd water supply has been repaired and disinfected. We are waiting for sample results and Health Dept. approval to put the water main back in service. We hope to have it back in service in the next few days. The water continues to be safe. Thank you for your patience and please continue to conserve water.

Water Supply Update

Unfortunately one of our major water supplies remains offline as we await the delivery of the new pipe and materials needed for the repair of a 30” main that ruptured last Thursday evening. We are hopeful that the repair will be accomplished by Thursday, September 3, 2026.

With only one water supply in operation the village struggles to keep up with the water demand. Please continue to conserve the use of water until we let you know that our second supply is back online.

The water has been and remains safe for consumption.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

At approximately 9:20 PM last night, we received a call-out alarm at our Lower Baxter Well location. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a 30” water main had ruptured. Our water operators have been on site throughout the night working diligently on isolating the leak. We are asking that ALL residents conserve water while this leak is located and repaired. Please limit usage to only necessary tasks as our water storage tank level has been significantly impacted. Please be advised, if water conservation is not practiced, this may result in a “Boil Water” situation for all Village of Pawling and Town of Pawling Water District # 1 users.

We will keep all users updated on this situation as information becomes available to us. We will be posting information on our website – www.villageofpawling.org and will be posting to our Village of Pawling page.

We thank everyone for their cooperation during this time.

Message From the Mayor:

It has come to my attention that I have become the focus of negative postings on Facebook by The Imperial Toy Castle/John Ragusa regarding an event John hosted on August 1, 2026. I would like to share my take on the “controversy”.

As per my attached emails with John there was discussion about a similar event last year that was handled in a very friendly fashion. This year I was not contacted regarding this event. I was told on August 1st that there was a truck completely parked on the East Main Street sidewalk and one vehicle completely parked on the sidewalk on Coulter Avenue. I was also informed that there was a tent on the East Main Street sidewalk. (See attached picture.) Since I was not in the village, out of an abundance of caution I called Lieutenant Dampf to have the patrol car conduct a drive by to assess if there was a blockage of our sidewalk or safety issue. I wanted to make sure that there would not be a need for a person walking in that area to have to step off the sidewalk and into the road. It has been said that there is an audio recording however I am not on that audio recording. This recording was between Lieutenant Dampf and dispatch. The responding Deputy determined that there wasn’t a blockage or safety issue because the vehicles were removed from the sidewalks at that time and therefore no action was taken. As Mayor my responsibility is to protect the village, village residents and visitors. There are rules and protocols in place that the village must adhere to. I need to enforce our local laws and requirements with an equal hand for everyone in the village.

On August 1st I was left thinking that there were no issues. The Village Board and I were thrilled to hear about the success of the Happy Life Adoption event that was held on private property. I was unaware there was any controversy regarding my actions with the information given. I was only made aware of John Ragusa’s feelings after he went public on Facebook. I find it difficult to comprehend how my concern for the village residents/visitors turned into my attacking a business owner. At that point I felt the best response was to not engage in negative social media posts. I thought this was over since nothing negative happened to his event.

It was also brought to my attention that it was claimed that we had a “secret” meeting on August 3rd. The village meets the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month except during the summer when we meet only once a month on the 1st Monday. Our next meeting was publicized to be September 8th however there is a conflict with the Planning Board who is holding a Public Hearing therefore the next Village Board meeting will be September 9, 2026 at 7 PM at 9 Memorial Avenue in the upstairs meeting room. All are invited to attend.

The village did receive and confirmed receipt of John’s FOIL request. All FOILs go through the village attorney’s office for review. I have provided all information requested to the attorneys and await their response.

Once again I do not understand how this has become such a personal affront to John when there was no ill intent – it is standard operating procedure.

This is the only time I will address this on social media. Thank you.

Mayor Lauri Taylor

The CVS Pharmacy located at 26 East Main Street in Pawling is closed following a devastating 4th of July fire. No one was injured, but the building was severely damaged, and the store and pharmacy will close indefinitely. CVS Pharmacy, the Governor’s Office, Congressman Lawler, County Executive Sue Serino and Village Mayor Lauri Taylor are working quickly to determine the best way to continue serving the Pawling community.

In the meantime, pharmacy calls into the Pawling store are being routed to the CVS Pharmacy in nearby Dover Plains. Patients who need support can also call the Dover Plains pharmacy directly at 845-877-6372 or they can visit any nearby CVS Pharmacy for assistance or support. In addition, home delivery fees are being waived for eligible prescriptions for the time being, as CVS Pharmacy works to get a temporary pharmacy set up in the village.

The Village Mayor and CVS Pharmacy appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as they navigate this challenging situation.
