This week, I took a quick but very productive trip to Taiwan as part of a bipartisan, multi-state delegation.

We packed a lot into just a few days. I met with the American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan, leaders in the semiconductor industry, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and officials in Taichung City as part of New York’s sister-city relationship.

Semiconductors were certainly a major focus, especially given the direct connection to the technology and manufacturing economy here in our district. But the conversations went well beyond that. We talked about challenges we’re facing right here at home—emergency service staffing shortages, the growing demands of data centers and how they’re being addressed, tariffs, trade with the Northeast, and, most importantly, attracting investment and good-paying jobs to our communities.

For me, that’s the value of these conversations. I want to make sure Dutchess County and New York have a seat at the table. When companies are deciding where to invest, expand, and create jobs, the relationships we build matter.

I also made the decision that no taxpayer dollars would be spent on my participation in this trip.

It was a brief visit with a packed schedule, and now I’m back home in Dutchess County and back to work!

I am proud to share another one of my bipartisan bills to designate the United State Post Office located at 298 Route 292 in Holmes as the Sheriff Adrian “Butch” Anderson Post Office Building has advanced through Committee.

Sheriff Anderson dedicated more than 50 years to serving Dutchess County with courage, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to public safety. From Deputy Sheriff to Mayor of the Village of Pawling to Dutchess County Sheriff, he spent a lifetime serving his community with distinction.

This committee approval brings us one step closer to permanently honoring Sheriff Anderson’s extraordinary legacy and ensuring his service to the Hudson Valley is never forgotten.
