In observance of Memorial Day, our office will be closing at 2 PM today and will remain closed through Monday, May 25th. As we remember those who were lost in the line of duty, we solemnly carry on their legacies in the spirit of kindness, service, and duty to our community.

The PRC Thanks Pawling Rotary for Successful Toiletry Drive

On Saturday, May 16th, Pawling Rotary’s Epic Day of Service Toiletry Drive benefitting the families and seniors of the PRC took place and it was a grand success. Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., members of the Pawling club, along with PRC executive director Michael Alexander, manned a table outside of Hannaford’s, where they collected 350 pounds of diapers and baby products, 240 pounds of paper products and 155 pounds of personal hygiene products. In all, 745 pounds of needed items for Pawling’s neighbors in need were collected, including $224 donated by generous Hannaford shoppers. The Pawling Resource Center also thanks Hannaford’s for its partnership in this endeavor, and the Pawling community for their steadfast support and generosity.

🥫 SCOUTING FOR FOOD is Back! 🥫

It’s that time of year again! BSA Troop 34 is hosting its annual Food Drive to support the Pawling Resource Center, helping local families and individuals right here in our community.

Here is how you can help make a difference:

📦 Step 1: Bag Drop-Off
Keep an eye out! Empty paper bags will be dropped off at homes during the weekend of May 23rd.

🚚 Step 2: Bag Pick-Up
Fill your bag with non-perishable food items and leave it out for collection. Scouts will be making the rounds to pick up all donations on Saturday, May 30th starting at 9:00 AM.

🛑 Didn't receive a bag but still want to donate?
No problem at all! You can still participate. Just call or text 917-595-0622 to arrange a collection.

This week has been one for the books here at the Pawling Resource Center! We were the recipients of two food drives from our friends in the community!

Pawling's Own Post Office had their annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, where they were able to collect 293 pounds of food that was delivered to us on Monday, May 12th! We cannot thank our steadfast mail-carriers enough!

Today, May 14th, is the Red Day of Service, where staff from the Mahopac, NY office were outside Hannaford Supermarkets Pawling location to encourage the public to donate to our food pantry. When it was all said and done, they were able to collect 997 pounds of food, paper goods, and hygiene supplies as well as $169 dollars in cash donations! Thank you to our friends in the community, and at Keller-Williams!

Join the Pawling Rotary and Pawling Resource Center for an EPIC Day of Service this Saturday! We’re collecting essential toiletries and paper products to support our local community.

As the Resource Center celebrates 50 years of service, let's make this drive our biggest one yet!

Main Location: Hannaford (Participating Partner)

Alternate Drop-off: Pawling Library

🛒 What We Really Need:
Paper Products: Toilet paper, paper towels, tissues

Personal Care: Shampoo, deodorant, soap, body wash, toothpaste, and toothbrushes

Family Essentials: Diapers, baby wipes, and feminine hygiene products

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our Farm Stand this past Tuesday, May 5th. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and share the bounty of the season with our neighbors. Helping our community stay healthy and fed is what we’re all about!

The Pawling Resource Center’s Inaugural Heart of Pawling Award

As the PRC’s 50th anniversary year unfolds, the board of directors, along with executive director Michael Alexander, have created the Heart of Pawling Award, to be given annually to a deserving and committed PRC volunteer for exceptional service in support of Pawling’s neighbors in need. With volunteerism at the very heart of the Center’s ability to serve the community, the Heart of Pawling Award will recognize a PRC volunteer who has consistently donated time, talent or services with heartfelt dedication to the PRC’s mission. This year, the PRC’s Heart of Pawling Award is being presented to Nastassia Lavion for her 963 hours of volunteer assistance during the past year, showing up almost every day to help. Her many hours of service have been spent helping food pantry clients, retrieving needed medical equipment from storage on the second floor, and accepting and cleaning incoming equipment that had been loaned to members of the community. Nastassia also answered phones and helped with general office work. She is always available to assist wherever needed and is gratified to be able to help people “who don’t have a lot, especially during the holidays.”
