Be Weather Aware

Pawnee County is expected to see thunderstorms develop this afternoon into the overnight hours.

Some storms may become strong to severe, with the primary threats being:

* Damaging winds
* Frequent lightning
* Heavy rainfall

Large hail and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

This means while not every storm will be severe, any storm that strengthens could produce dangerous conditions quickly.

Safety Reminders:

* Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings
* Stay weather aware throughout the day and overnight
* If a warning is issued — take action immediately
* Seek shelter indoors and away from windows
* Avoid outdoor activities when storms approach

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.

During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, Pawnee County Emergency Management would like to extend a sincere thank you to the dispatchers of the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Cleveland, the City of Pawnee, and the City of Mannford.

Although Mannford is located in Creek County, their dispatch center serves one of Pawnee County’s agencies, and we are very thankful for their continued support and partnership.

Dispatchers are often the first voice people hear in an emergency. They provide calm in the middle of chaos, gather critical information, send the needed resources, and help keep responders and the public safe. Their work is steady, professional, and absolutely essential, even though it often happens behind the scenes.

To all of our dispatchers, thank you for your service, your dedication, and the long hours you put in to help others. Pawnee County is safer because of what you do each and every day, and Pawnee County Emergency Management is proud to recognize you this week.
