We are so excited to purchase these new radios, and it’s all thanks to you!!!
This years Steam Engine Show Booth proceeds was enlotted for EMS and made +/- $5000. This year we opted to apply that to help replace several of our old Motorola handheld radios that we assign to our EMS members. Some of the equipment we are using is well past its life expectancy and has effectively reached the Motorola “end of life” time frame and are having problems.
Each of these radios cost very close to $1000 on State Contract bids, we are slowly moving to P25 compliant radios that are designed for public service / emergency services use, which cost more. Now, if you’re counting there are 10 radios in the picture, the math isn’t adding up, here’s why.
Shortly after the Steam Engine Show, a family came in to City Hall to speak with us about a donation, they were very happy with the service our Ambulance crews provided to them in their time of need, several times, and they wanted to make a donation. After talking with them, they decided to match the $5000 and help us double our radio order. This donation was a private donation from a family and we want to say a heartfelt Thank You.
And with the combined money we were able to purchase 10 new Kenwood P25 compliant DMR/Analog handheld radios and upgrade some equipment. What’s awesome is no tax payer funds were used, so our already stretched budget was not affected.
Thank you Pawnee for your continued support of the Pawnee Volunteer Ambulance Service. We are one of the few Volunteer Ambulance Services left in the State of Oklahoma.
