⚠️ UPCOMING ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE (June 3rd) ⚠️

🚧 Cotton Hill Road will be CLOSED between Washington Street and San Terra Road on JUNE 3RD (weather permitting) from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Residents will still be able to travel east on San Terra Road, but traffic south of 104 will not be able to travel north or south on Cotton Hill during the closure.

The Village Water Department has scheduled a watermain extension project along San Terra Road making this temporary closure necesary. Updates will be posted through Pawnee Alerts as the project date gets closer and when work is complete.

⚠️ VISIBILITY ALERT – BLOWING DUST ⚠️
There is currently zero visibility in areas around Pawnee due to blowing dust.

Avoid travel if possible.
Conditions can change rapidly. Use extreme caution.

There is blowing dust across parts of central Illinois this afternoon resulting in visibilities less than a mile or worse at times. The threat should subside as the sunsets. Please use caution when travelling. Pull aside, stay alive!

Summer Help Wanted
The Village of Pawnee is currently accepting job applications for temporary summer help positions to assist with in the Streets Department. Qualified applicants must hold a valid driver’s license, be able to do hard physical labor, and lift up to 50 pounds. These temporary positions are intended to help high school students or current year high school graduates gain work experience. The hours will be from 7:30a to 4:00p, Monday through Friday. Employment start date will be May 26th, 2026. Hourly pay is $15.
Applications are available at Village Hall. All qualifying persons must have their applications turned into the Village Hall located at 617 – 7th Street no later than April 30th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

A deep low will dig from the Upper Midwest this evening across the Great Lakes Friday. In response, strong south winds will develop across central IL tonight veering to northwest Friday evening. Winds will gust to around 35-50 mph at times. A Wind Advisory is in effect until 4pm.
