The Housing Network was honored to co-host this week's Community Opportunity Alliance Summit, which brought community development professionals from across the U.S. to Providence for three days of learning and connecting.

As part of the , attendees had the opportunity to tour our members' (NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley, West Elmwood Housing Development Corporation and Omni Development Corp.) communities and see firsthand the impact that R.I.'s nonprofit affordable housing developers are making in the areas they serve.

We are so grateful to COA for bringing the Summit to Rhode Island this year, and for the opportunity to trade ideas and best practices with our colleagues from across the country.

The right to vote is a cornerstone of our democracy, yet people with low incomes (especially those experiencing homelessness) remain among the least represented at the polls.

In a typical election year, only about 1 in 10 people experiencing homelessness cast a ballot.

This election season, we’re proud to tag along with House of Hope CDC’s Shower to Empower team as we register and educate Rhode Island voters.

🚿 Shower to Empower is a one-of-a-kind mobile service, offering basic needs such as complimentary showers and haircuts. They also offer on-site case management and medical services to those experiencing homelessness.

🗳️ Our Homes, Our Votes is a nonpartisan campaign to register, educate, and mobilize low-income renters and affordable housing advocates to vote, spearheaded by the National Low Income Housing Coalition. The Housing Network of Rhode Island has been a state partner of Our Homes, Our Votes since 2020.
