A heart full of gratitude from all of us at Paxton ERS to Suzanne Poole, Lyn Hruska, the American Red Cross of Illinois, and the Midwest Food Bank!
When severe storms hit our hometown, seeing 92-years-young Suzanne right alongside her daughter Lyn handing out emergency cleanup supplies wasn't just helpful—it was completely inspiring.
Suzanne said it best: the most important thing she ever gave was a "good person to do their business." That spirit of service running through generations is what community is all about.
Our members are still talking about your incredible dedication, and these women inspired our entire team! Thank you for showing up for Paxton when our neighbors needed it most! ❤️
For more than 70 years, Suzanne Poole’s connection to the Red Cross has been rooted in helping others, first as a blood donor, then as a blood drive volunteer and, along the way, inspiring the next generation of her family to serve.
Recently, at 92 years young, Suzanne was once again lending a hand, this time alongside her daughter, Lyn Hruska, Executive Director of the Central Illinois Chapter, as Red Cross volunteers distributed emergency cleanup supplies to families in Paxton, IL who were impacted by severe storms.
Suzanne summed up her remarkable Red Cross journey beautifully:
“I’ve given a lot to the Red Cross over the years. I’ve given my blood, I’ve given my time, but the most important thing I think I’ve given them is a good person to do their business.”
That “good person” is her daughter. ❤️
