Why hasn’t the Payette County Sheriff's Office also done this?
Why did he go to the capitol and advocate against every single immigration bill that got a hearing in the 2026 session?
Are we not a country of laws?
287(g) is a simple program to check the immigration status of all persons taken into custody.

BOISE — Gov. Brad Little and Idaho Department of Correction Director Bree Derrick announced Idaho has entered into a 287(g) warrant service officer agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), expanding upon the state’s partnership with the federal agency.

I have a lot of work to do until then. The fight for Idaho is a long one, and one I refuse to give up on. District 9 deserves a lawmaker who will put Idaho’s children before illegal aliens. Someone who is a servant leader, and isn’t afraid of conflict when it comes while standing on principle. Someone who’s a straight shooter. Someone is will always be pushing the ball forward for the cause of Freedom and Liberty. Someone who doesn’t claim to be a conservative while taking $1,000s from big business.

It’s been 83 days since I lost. I’ve taken time to gather my thoughts, spend time with my family, and gather strength for the journey ahead. Watching the district come together to support each other as the literal fires rage has been nothing short of amazing and utterly inspiring.

As a 12 year old I read the famous words John Paul Jones shouted to the British while in the middle of a naval battle; “I have not yet begun to fight!". Those words ring just as true today as then did 30 years ago.

So here we go again. Every journey starts with a single step forward.

Immigration is the number one issue in Idaho. It affects dozens of aspects of your life, from schools to housing costs to healthcare costs to cultural cohesion. If we continue to send legislators to Boise who refuse to do their duty we will continue to lose Americans to preventable deaths.

I may have lost in the primary, but I have got left the fight. I am still working to better Idaho so that we protect the birthright of our children. We MUST pass on to them a better state and country than was passed onto us.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed to Idaho Freedom Foundation Wednesday that the suspect in the Boise Greenbelt assault and kidnapping case is an illegal alien from Mexico.

“Javier Ortiz-Galvan is an alien from Mexico charged with aggravated assault and second-degree kidnapping. He entered the United States illegally at an unknown date and time but was given a green card in 2022 under the Biden administration,” a DHS spokesperson said in a statement.

“Possessing a green card is a privilege, not a right. Under our nation’s laws, our government has the authority to revoke a green card if our laws are broken and abused,” the statement continued.

DHS first confirmed his immigration status to Border Hawk News, according to an X post.

Ortiz was charged with aggravated assault and kidnapping in the second degree (not for ransom), according to Ada County Sheriff’s Office records. His name is spelled Javier Ortiz-Galvin, not Galvan, according to the sheriff’s office records. IFF reached out to DHS for confirmation on the spelling but has not heard back as of publication.

The female victim was walking by herself when the suspect allegedly came up from behind, physically assaulted her and yanked her off the path, police stated. Two uninvolved individuals heard the victim's screams and dialed 911.

When one of them intervened, the suspect allegedly fled the scene, but he was later arrested and identified as 26-year-old Javier Ortiz. He is reportedly from Ontario, Oregon, and is being held on a $1 million bond. He appeared in custody on Zoom with the help of an interpreter.

IFF reached out by phone to Boise Mayor Lauren McLean’s office and left a voicemail inquiring about what the mayor and city plans to do about illegal immigration. Boise police announced they will maintain increased patrols along the Greenbelt and nearby parks, according to their press release.

This is the second alleged assault in July on the Boise Greenbelt. A man allegedly stabbed to death a 25-year-old on July 6, and the suspect, Ross Wardlaw, was arrested July 9. He is reportedly homeless.

Perhaps the City of Boise should be less preoccupied with how inclusive its flag poles are and more concerned with the safety of its residents.

Notably, the Ada County Sheriff refused to enter into a 287(g) agreement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Sheriff Matt Clifford defended the decision in a March press release. The program authorizes ICE to give state and local law enforcement officers the power to perform certain immigration officer functions under “ICE’s direction and oversight,” according to the agency.

Who could have seen this coming? Oh wait I did.

This company is most likely a fraud company, there are 18 different trucking companies who use the same address in a strip mall next to a Wing Stop in Puyallup, Wa.

Idaho MUST do a better job to controlling who uses our roads. We need to give ITD officers far more power to put truckers and trucks out of service. We need to attach massive fines for violations, while impounding the trucks until the fines are paid. The drivers and companies need to face severe consequences and penalties when they violate the law.

**UPDATE** A secondary crash in the area has reduced the interstate to a single lane, all traffic is being detoured near Kasota.
Use caution through the area, expect delays and use alternate routes where possible.

The Sacrifice and Celebration of Our Fallen

Every year on the last Monday of May those of us who survived war are confronted with our own survival as we remember our brothers and sisters in arms who did not make it home alive. The emotions of mourning and celebration are at odds with each other on this day. We mourn their loss and the pain that it has caused, but we must celebrate their lives and the sacrifice they made.

For many in the GWOT we have the names of our brothers tattoo'd on us, for me five names are forever on my arm. SFC David Salie, 1LT Noah Harris, Cpl Bill Long, SSG Harrison Brown, and PFC Neal Simmons are always with me. I carry their memory with me, telling all of the sacrifice they made.

I am sitting in my office in the dark, with tears rolling down my face, I try to keep the emotions from over taking me. Trying to keep the moments and memories alive in my mind. We all have the memories of the last time we saw each of our brothers alive.

February 14th 2005 SSG Brown and I stood in line to get some cash, on FOB Gabe, as SFC Salie walked by. We wished him well and told him to stay safe. He turned and walked towards the trucks, his hulking frame squeezed into the front seat of the truck, and he shut the door. Less than an hour later he was killed as an IED ripped through the front side of his truck. His massive frame taking much of the blast, an in effect saving the rest of the men from death.

June 17th 2005 Lt Harris normally went out with my part of the platoon, but our platoon sergeant was on leave so Lt Harris took his half of the platoon on a their patrol. They had just come back from FOB Warhorse and didn't have much time so the rest of us grabbed them hot chow before they left. We prayed and told them to get after it, every friday night patrol got into some action. A few hours later the platoon was hit with a near ambush of 30-50 guys, Lt Harris and Cpl Long's truck was hit with an IED killing them both.

April 8th 2007 The last time I was SSG Brown and PFC Simmons after I had joined the Sniper Section was on Camp Buehring in March of 2007 just before we left for Baghdad. I had spent much of 2006 training with them as a dismount on their Bradley. They were kill when they parked their Bradley on top of a massive IED. I was on a different FOB at the time, and the news of their death shattered my heart.

No matter how painful these memories are to relive in my mind, I force myself to replay them over and over. I remember all the great times, from SSG Brown taking me along to an HBCU football game, or Lt Harris never wearing his helmet right, to SFC Salie yelling at me for wearing cold weather gear in January, and PFC Simmons somehow sleeping like a baby in the driver seat of the Bradley, and of course all the hilarious nights in the "Crack House" barracks with CPL Long on Ft. Benning in 2004.

I am also scared of forgetting their voice and their face, I know one day their memories will fade away and slip from my grasp. So I hold on to them for as long as I can.
I know they are looking down on us with smiles. Even as these tears fill our eyes, their smiles and laughter should bring a smile to our faces.

Let us celebrate who they were and the sacrifice they each willing made.

Whelp. That sucked. Last night was a brutal night for some of the best Idahoans, men and woman who want to protect what we have here. The Good Ol Boys fought back hard after their loses in 2024.

I’ve told many of you I’m in this race for the long run. Last nights doesn’t feel great, but it’s just a landmark on my journey. When I was 10 yrs old I read a book about the life of John Paul Jones, founder of the US Navy, and I’ve never needed his most famous words more than I do to day.

“I have not yet begun to fight.”

2028 here we come. There is much work to be done over the next two years, and I will be putting my nose to the grind stone. In the 2027 session I will be getting back to work on making our roads safer via trucking laws.

I want to thank each of you, all 2,723 who chose to give me their vote. I couldn’t be more honored and grateful to have earned it. The road to change is long and we will overcome this challenge with hard work, dedication, and sheer determination.
