Looking for a great opportunity for your middle schooler to learn valuable life skills? Join us for Babysitter Training with CPR!

Designed for students in grades 6–8, this hands-on class helps prepare young teens for babysitting, caring for younger siblings, and staying safe when home alone.

A Heart Safe Peabody: Introducing Outdoor AEDs!

The City of Peabody Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department is excited to announce the launch of a new initiative to make our parks and outdoor recreational spaces safer for our community!

Thanks to funding secured through a $95,000 state earmark specifically designated for outdoor Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), our department has acquired over 20 outdoor AED units that will be installed with the help of our amazing Facilities Department throughout Peabody! The code for the secure units will be provided by 911 upon calling emergency services. Units will be inspected on a regular basis and after any use.

Why does this matter?

Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time. When cardiac arrest occurs, every second counts. Immediate access to an AED, combined with CPR, can significantly improve a person’s chances of survival.

Our parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, and recreational spaces bring thousands of residents and visitors together to play, exercise, and enjoy the outdoors. By placing AEDs in these spaces, we’re helping ensure that life-saving equipment is more accessible when it’s needed most.

Our First Two Are Ready!

We’re thrilled to share that our first TWO outdoor AED units have officially been installed and are ready for use! One is located on the outside of the PVMHS concession stand and one is located on the outside of the Higgins Middle School concession stand (both pictured here)!

And this is just the beginning! Our team is actively working to install the remaining units at locations throughout the city, expanding access to this critical equipment across our community.

This initiative represents an important investment in public safety and our continued commitment to creating safe, welcoming, and prepared recreational spaces for all.

Please note, installation is ongoing and not all cabinets have AEDs inside at this time. The only locations fully installed are PVMHS and Higgins. Stay tuned as we announce additional AED locations!
