This year marks the 25th anniversary of that day, and we come together to honor the lives lost, the courage of the first responders, and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.

What does it really mean to serve a community?

Sometimes, it looks like saving a life.

Sometimes, it looks like answering someone’s worst call on their worst day.

And sometimes… it looks like this.

The call was over. FF Raut could have gotten back on the truck and headed to the station. Instead, he noticed a kid with a soccer ball.

So he stayed.

No policy required it.
No one asked him to do it.
There was no 911 call for this part.

He just cared enough to give a few more minutes.

And maybe that’s what public service is really about.

Because to us, this might just be a firefighter kicking a soccer ball around after a call.

To that kid, it might be the day a firefighter stopped what he was doing just to make him feel important.

These moments build something you can’t measure on a response report. They build trust. They build relationships. They show the next generation that the people riding those fire trucks aren’t strangers who only show up when something is wrong.

We’re their firefighters. We’re their neighbors. We’re part of their community.

Responding when someone calls 911 is our responsibility.

What we choose to do when nobody is asking us to… that’s where service becomes something more.

Celebrating the graduates

Peachtree City Fire Rescue congratulates Firefighter/AEMT Garret Pope, Firefighter/EMT Hope Johnson, and Firefighter/AEMT Kyle Jenkins on their completion of Recruit Class 54 with the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

We’re proud of what they’ve accomplished and look forward to what’s ahead. Please join us in recognizing these three on this milestone.

Not everyone who makes a difference in public safety rides on a fire truck.

Over the past few months, we’ve had the privilege of having Sai serve as an intern with Peachtree City Fire Rescue.

As he finishes his master’s degree, Sai brought an incredible skill set in data analytics, AI, and research that allowed him to complete one of the most comprehensive community risk assessments our department has ever had. His work will help us better understand the risks facing our community so we can focus our education, prevention, and resources where they matter most.

But beyond his knowledge and talent, Sai became part of our family. He was always willing to jump in, ask questions, learn something new, and help wherever he was needed. He reminded us that public safety takes people with all kinds of talents and backgrounds working toward the same goal.

You don’t have to wear turnout gear to make a lasting impact.

Sai, thank you for your hard work, your friendship, and the difference you’ve made here at Peachtree City Fire Rescue. We can’t wait to see where your career takes you, and we know you’re going to accomplish great things.

You’ll always have friends here at PCFR.

What if someone collapsed at your business today?

Or at your gym.

Your church.

Your sports complex.

Your neighborhood clubhouse.

Your office.

Would someone know where the AED is?

Would there even be one?

A few days ago, a life in our community was saved because CPR was started immediately and an AED was available within minutes.

That’s not luck.

That’s preparation.

Most people never think they’ll need an AED… until the day they do.

There is nothing wrong with being prepared.

🔥 STRUCTURAL FIRE CONTROL TRAINING 🔥

Peachtree City Fire Rescue is proud to host a Structural Fire Control course this week, sponsored by the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) and bringing together firefighters from Peachtree City, Union City, College Park, and Fairburn for hands-on training.

This challenging course is designed to build the knowledge, skills, and confidence firefighters need to safely control and extinguish structural fires.

Students progress through realistic firefighting drills while learning to recognize changing fire conditions, understand fire behavior, and identify the hazards associated with interior structural firefighting.

Training includes live-fire demonstrations of fire behavior, single-room fire attack drills, and multiple-room fire scenarios. Each firefighter must successfully demonstrate the required performance objectives to complete the course.

Training together strengthens more than individual skills—it strengthens the relationships and teamwork between departments that share a common mission: protecting the communities we serve.

Peachtree City Fire Rescue is proud to provide a facility where firefighters from across our region can train together and sharpen their skills.

Thank you to the Georgia Public Safety Training Center, our instructors, and all of the firefighters participating in this week’s training.
