The Learning Organization College in Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & IMF sets the strategic direction for the application of Learning Organization disciplines to thrive. The college focuses on a framework of 3 leverage points: 1) The role of a Leader in a Learning Organization (Leadership training and coaching); 2) Effective Problem Solving (Critiques, PAMs, Learning Cells); 3) Developing PRIDE and
PASSION within our Shipyard community (Community of Practices- Formal or Informal). These leverage points, when effectively supported and lead will be the key to the success of the Shipyard. Learning Organization Facilitators progress the learning process of a Performance Improvement event or critique by creating the proper learning environment. This environment consists of the physical setting as well as the emotional atmosphere. By focusing on the behaviors that shape the system we work in, Learning Organization Facilitator's help people to acquire skills, attitudes, habits of thought and qualities of character that will enable them to understand their jobs and perform them with efficiency and with a feeling of satisfaction. The facilitator is an objective (neutral) leader skilled in designing and executing improvement events which promote team work, effective interrelationships among the participants, and practicing the disciplines of a Learning Organization (Personal Mastery, Mental Models, Team Learning, Shared Vision, and Systems Thinking).
