On Wednesday 4/22, at approximately 12:25 in the afternoon The Pearl River Fire Department was requested to respond to Department 7 (Monsey, NY) with a FAST for a 3rd alarm structure fire. 12-78 responded within moments and once on scene, members stood by as FAST for approximately 3 hours. Members then got put to work to assist with extensive overhaul operations. Units operated for about 5 hours before returning back into service.

This afternoon at approximately 4:35, The Pearl River Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle extrication on Schindler drive. As units were enroute, 44 control advised that they were receiving multiple calls for a rollover. 12-1750 arrived on scene and confirmed that there was 1 party trapped inside the vehicle. The crews of the 1750 and 12-Rescue worked together to extricate the patient who was then transferred over to Pearl River EMS. All units were back in service shortly after.

This past week, the Pearl River Fire Department held their annual elections. Congratulations to Chief Helmke, Asst. Chief Shand & all the incoming officers for this next year! We’d also like to take this time to thank and congratulate our outgoing Chief, Shaun Ruocco for his past 4 years as Chief and Assistant Chief of the Pearl River Fire Department. His hard work & dedication to the Pearl River Fire Department has definitely not gone unnoticed.

Yesterday afternoon at around 13:01 hrs, the Pearl River Fire Department was requested to respond with a FAST to Monsey for a reported structure fire. Within seconds of dispatch, Department 7 had units on scene confirming a signal 12 (working fire). 12-FAST responded with 9 members who stood by as members worked on fire suppression and overhaul. Some members from dept 12 then went in to assist with extensive overhaul. Units operated for about 90 minutes before returning back into the first due area. .p.faist_ambulance

After years of planning, discussion, and dedication to the future of the fire service in our community, we are proud to officially announce the consolidation of Hook & Ladder Company and Excelsior Engine Company into one unified organization: Pearl River Hook & Hose Company.

Construction of our new, state-of-the-art firehouse should start in the coming months, with final work expected to wrap up on February 30th, 2027. This new facility represents the future of our combined company and will serve as a central hub for training, response, and community engagement.

We honor the proud histories of both Hook & Ladder and Excelsior, and we look forward to continuing that legacy together under one name.

Last Thursday, members from Dept. 12 & Dept. 7 had the opportunity of training with each other at an acquired commercial structure in live smoke conditions. This mutual aid drill consisted of primary searches, hose line advancement, and FAST operations. This was a great opportunity for our members to train hands on with our mutual aid partners. Thank You to the Monsey FD for attending!

This morning at approximately 12:42am, The Pearl River Fire Department along with Nanuet FD and West Nyack FD were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire on Reld Drive. Within moments of dispatch, 12-1 arrived on scene and reported there to be smoke showing from the attic of the residence. Shortly after 12-78 arrived on scene and the crew went interior and located a working fire in the attic. Crews operated on scene for roughly 1 hour before returning back into service.

Busy Day For Pearl River Hook and Ladder,⁣

This morning at approximately 7:58, Pearl River Hook and Ladder got requested to respond with a FAST to Dept 7s area (Monsey NY) for the reported structure fire. While 12-78/ 12-FAST was enroute to Monsey, command advised us that we can cancel. Simultaneously to 12-78 clearing from Monsey, Montvale NJ transmitted the working house fire which brings in 12-78, 12-ATV, 12-FAST to the scene. Within minutes of dispatch 12-78 arrived on scene as the first due truck and were met with heavy fire conditions. Crews worked on stretching a 2nd handline to the rear of the structure. 68-2 along with part of 12-78 crew made a push through the back door of the structure where there was heavy fire throughout. Even though part of the crew got put to work by command, Dept 12 still supplied a FAST until the 2nd alarm FAST arrived on scene. Ultimately, this incident reached a 3rd alarm. Units operated for about 3 hours before returning back into service. ⁣
