Every meaningful connection reminds us why this work matters. 💙

Over the past week, the Area Agency on Aging had the privilege of participating in Ethel’s Place Memory Café and caregiver support groups, while also training dedicated SHIP volunteers to help Medicare beneficiaries and their families make informed healthcare decisions.
We witnessed moments of joy, understanding, encouragement, and hope that were all made possible when people came together in service to others. Memory cafés offer connection and belonging. Caregiver support groups remind those caring for loved ones that they do not have to walk their journey alone. Our SHIP volunteers provide trusted, unbiased guidance to help individuals confidently navigate Medicare. Together, we are creating brighter days, stronger families, and a future where everyone can age with dignity and purpose.

The Central Mississippi Area Agency on Aging extends our heartfelt appreciation to Entergy Mississippi for the generous donation to our Food Pantry. In today's economy, food insecurity continues to affect many older adults and families. Rising grocery costs have made it increasingly difficult for many to afford nutritious meals, making community support more important than ever. Because of caring partners like Entergy Mississippi and dedicated representatives like Ms. Christina Shores, we can provide hope and help to those who need it most. Your generosity is making a real difference in the lives of the individuals and families we serve.

Thank you, Entergy Mississippi, for your commitment to strengthening our community. Together, we are helping ensure that no one faces hunger alone.

We are thrilled to celebrate the revitalization of Ethel's Place Memory Café through the continued partnership of the Central Mississippi Area Agency on Aging and AARP Mississippi. After taking time to restructure, it was a great to gather once again at the Brandon Municipal Complex. This renewed collaboration reflects our shared commitment to supporting individuals living with memory loss and the caregivers who walk alongside them. We are especially grateful to our community partners, the Brandon Municipal Complex and the Madison Community Center, for opening their doors and helping us expand opportunities for connection, education, and support.

A special thank you to the Ethel's Place Gospel Choir, whose uplifting music filled the room with joy, hope, and inspiration. Their beautiful voices set the tone for a meaningful day of fellowship and reminded us that community is one of our greatest strengths.

Together, we are building a more dementia-friendly Central Mississippi, one filled with compassion, support, and hope for every family. For more information, contact Aging Division Director, Chelsea B. Crittle, PhD, at 601-321-2147.
