𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐈𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄

𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐓𝐢𝐩

On September 29, 2026, the Pearl Police Department received an anonymous CrimeStoppers tip regarding Alejandro Santos-Herrera, who was wanted out of Montgomery County, Texas, for the offense of Indecency with a Child/Sexual Contact.

Members of the Pearl Police Department’s Special Operations Division immediately began a proactive investigation into Santos-Herrera’s whereabouts. Within a few hours, investigators were able to identify a vehicle believed to be driven by Santos-Herrera and develop information regarding a possible residence.

On September 30, 2026, Pearl Police Department Special Operations Division investigators located Santos-Herrera’s vehicle traveling northbound on Pearson Road. Investigators approached Santos-Herrera as he arrived at his residence; however, he fled inside the residence. After a brief period, Santos-Herrera exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

During the investigation, it was also confirmed that Santos-Herrera was unlawfully present in the United States. Santos-Herrera was transported to the Pearl Police Department, where he was booked before being transported to the Rankin County Jail. He is currently awaiting extradition to Montgomery County, Texas.

The Pearl Police Department would like to thank the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in Texas for their assistance and cooperation throughout the investigation.

This arrest also highlights the important role that CrimeStoppers and the community play in keeping our communities safe. The anonymous information provided to CrimeStoppers allowed Pearl Police Department investigators to quickly develop leads and locate a wanted individual. This case is another example of how information provided by citizens can directly assist law enforcement in locating wanted suspects and protecting the public.

The Pearl Police Department remains committed to the safety and security of the citizens of Pearl and will continue working proactively with our community, regional law enforcement partners, and CrimeStoppers to locate wanted individuals and hold those responsible for criminal offenses accountable.

Beginning 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟖, the 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 while the City of Pearl Street Department completes drainage improvements and replaces a culvert. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐, 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠.

On September 19, Pearl Police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a silver Toyota Corolla. The driver refused to yield to emergency lights and sirens and fled at a high rate of speed, initiating a vehicle pursuit.

During the pursuit, the driver continued to disregard public safety. Officers executed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI). The suspect then intentionally rammed multiple patrol vehicles, causing functional damage to two units. A civilian vehicle later collided with the rear of a Pearl Police patrol unit, resulting in disabling damage to both vehicles. The civilian sustained minor injuries and was transported by AMR to Baptist Hospital. The officer involved was not injured.

A white male driver and white female passenger were taken into custody. The driver, identified as Zachary Brooks (DOB 11/18/1996), was transported to UMMC after officers discovered he had swallowed narcotics during the pursuit. Further investigation revealed Brooks had an active NCIC warrant out of Louisiana for aggravated battery and was subject to full extradition for a violation of drug court.

Charges for Zachary Brooks:

• Felony Fleeing
• Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer
• NCIC Warrant – Louisiana
• Possession of Paraphernalia
• Destruction of State Property ×2
• Seatbelt Violations ×2

This investigation remains ongoing. No further information is available for release at this time.

Today, we remember the lives lost and the families forever changed on September 11, 2001. We honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away.

We also thank our Pearl Police Officers and Pearl Fire Department, and all of our first responders, who continue to put their lives on the line every day to protect and serve our community.
