Another life saving initiative that we are very proud of. Thanks to all who played a role in making Blocker 88 a reality! I’m excited to get this program in place prior to my retirement!

To the Pearland Fire Department Family and the wonderful city of Pearland,

In the last four years, we have made tremendous strides both operationally and administratively. The awards, the recognition, and the respect PFD has gained locally, regionally, and nationally are a testament to all of our hard work and our ability to work as one. Has it been perfect? Absolutely not. But that’s what makes firefighters so unique and respected, especially all of you in PFD. We can take any situation, any challenge, and use our creativity to solve the problem. Very few professions can relate to this. We win at all costs, despite the odds, because of hard work, ingenuity, and teamwork...family.

Staci and I have had many discussions about when my job here is done. When will I feel that I have set PFD up for success without my guidance? She and I believe I am at that point. We know that PFD is running on all cylinders for complete success going forward. So she told me, "just pull off the band-aid, babe". Staci is never wrong in times like these and I am proud to have her by my side as I make the official announcement that I will retire on February 2, 2026.

My time here has been remarkable and the people of this department and our city have made a lasting impact on our lives. To the members of the Pearland Fire Department, I love you all, and I can honestly say that my job here is now complete. Keep raising the bar, stay safe, and always remember—PFD is family.

Retirement Celebration will be held at Pearland Fire Station 4 on January 30th at 10am. All are welcome!

Chief J., and Staci

PFD and Pearland Proud!

PFD and Pearland Proud!

Today, Engine 3, A-shift crew were recognized and presented a "WHY" coin by City Manager Trent Epperson and Assistant City Manager Chad Randall for going above and beyond normal response criteria.

Recently, E3 responded to a young mother experiencing a medical emergency. While the mother was transported by PFD ambulance, her one-year-old daughter was left behind with the E3 crew until the grandfather could arrive to take responsibility for the child.
What made this situation truly special is that our crew didn’t simply watch Bluey and play with the child. They also cared for her—feeding her, clothing her, and ensuring her well-being. And while waiting for the grandfather’s arrival, the crew took the initiative to clean the entire house.

It’s the little things that truly set us apart as crews and as an organization. E3's actions that day are a perfect example of what PFD is all about. The company officer, Lieutenant Wild, made the decision to keep his crew "out of service" until the child was placed with a responsible family member, knowing this action would be supported by PFD command staff because doing the right thing is our expectation, even when a bit outside the box.

This crew’s actions reflect the same dedication and empathy that any PFD crew would display in a similar situation. It’s about having the autonomy to make decisions that truly make a difference.
We have incredible people wearing our uniform, and they make us look like rock stars every day. But the real rock stars are our crews—showing empathy and making a difference in our community every single day.

Job well done, men! As pictured, Asst. CM Chad Randall, Driver/Operator Jason Pecknold, Lt. Matt Wild, Firefighter Jake Purdy, Firefighter Luis Reyna, and CM Trent Epperson.

🔥 PFD Deployment Update 🔥

This week, a Pearland Fire Department team was deployed as part of a Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) All-Hazards Strike Team in response to elevated wildfire conditions in the Alice and Corpus Christi area.

Please keep (as pictured) Firefighter Jose' Callejas, Driver/Operator David Tilbury, Firefighter Will Sohn, and Battalion Chief Garrett Allbright, in your thoughts and prayers as they represent PFD and assist our fellow Texans.

Another amazing group that we are so proud of!

Another amazing group that we are so proud of!

Today, we said goodbye to our incredible Code and Health Enforcement Team as they prepare to transition to Community Development next week. This group has been an invaluable part of the PFD family—demonstrating professionalism, passion, and an unwavering commitment to serving our community with excellence.

Their work has made a lasting impact, and their presence has strengthened our organization in countless ways. While the organizational structure may be changing, the connection remains. You will always be part of the PFD family.

We are proud of you.
We support you.
And we wish you the very best in this next chapter.
