Memorial Day weekend is a time to honor those who died while fighting in the U.S. Armed Forces. Yes, Memorial Day has also come to signify the “unofficial” start of summer, but let’s remember the heroes who made it all possible.

Today we had the honor of participating in the Brazoria County Fallen Peace Officer Memorial.

Law Enforcement Memorial Day is observed every year on May 15. It is a national day of remembrance honoring local, state, and federal law enforcement officers who have died or been disabled in the line of duty.

Thank you to all the fallen and disabled officers and their families.

Your names and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Deputy Ray Trevino was glad to assist in the distribution of extra food to our community from a local food drive in Alvin. We are proud to be part of a great community who take care of our neighbors.

Tonight I got the pleasure to watch as one of my deputies, Ray Trevino ( Wendy Trevino ) receive a First Responder of the Year Award from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo along with Pearland Police Chief Johnny Spires .

These two protectors, while off duty, saved a lady who was trapped in her vehicle after a crash. The vehicle was also on fire.

I am super proud that my Constable team consist of this caliber of officer and I am also proud I live in community that has committed Responders who continually place others lives above thier own.

Its an honor to be a law enforcement officer and a privilege to serve our communities and although many challenge our purpose, we still get up and go to work each day knowing we may never go home.

It is with profound sadness that the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office announces that Deputy Lewis has succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the early morning accident on I-10 near Eldridge Road in Houston on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

As previously shared, Deputy Lewis was assisting a stranded motorist at approximately 3:40 a.m. when he was struck by a passing vehicle that fled the scene. He was transported to a local hospital, where medical staff worked tirelessly to save him.

Despite those efforts, Deputy Lewis passed away as a result of his injuries.

Deputy Lewis demonstrated the very best of law enforcement. His selflessness, dedication, and commitment to serving others reflect the core values of our office and the profession he proudly served.

We ask that you continue to keep Deputy Lewis’ family, friends, and our FBCSO family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

The incident remains under investigation by the Houston Police Department. Additional information, including service arrangements, will be shared when appropriate.

This morning, a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper and a Wood County, TX Sheriff's Office Deputy were shot in the line of duty while attempting to serve an arrest warrant. The situation escalated into a barricaded suspect and resulted in an officer involved shooting.

Both officers are currently listed in critical but stable condition and are fighting to recover.

TMPA Regional Attorney Kenneth Biggs responded to the scene to assist all members involved.

Please keep these heroes and their families in your prayers.
