Our newest fire cadets trained alongside shift personnel, focusing on fire dynamics and the proper use of thermal imaging cameras.

This hands-on training was conducted as part of the in-service for our newly acquired Max Fire Box, providing a controlled environment to demonstrate how fire behaves and how critical decisions impact conditions on the fireground.

Building this foundation early matters. Understanding fire behavior isn’t optional—it’s what keeps our people disciplined, effective, and going home after every shift.

During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 12–18, 2026), we want to recognize and thank the dedicated dispatchers serving Reeves County ESD Nos. 1 & 2.

This includes the communications professionals at Pecos Police Department, Reeves County Sheriff's Office, and Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD Police Department. You are often the first voice people hear in an emergency, providing calm direction, critical information, and unwavering support to first responders and the public.

Thank you for the long hours, the difficult calls, and the responsibility you carry every day. Your work matters, and Reeves County is safer because of you.

Specialized Training in Rail Emergency Response

Our personnel continue to sharpen their skills to better serve our community and region.

Recently, Engineer Light, Engineer Barron, and Lieutenant Cantu completed an intensive 30-hour Rail Emergency Response course conducted by Union Pacific in partnership with TRANSCAER. This course provides critical training in safely controlling hazardous materials leaks on railcars, assessing train derailments, and mitigating associated risks.

With rail lines playing a vital role across West Texas, this type of advanced training ensures our crews are prepared to respond quickly, safely, and effectively to complex incidents involving hazardous materials.

We are proud of the dedication these members show in continuing their professional development and strengthening our operational readiness.

🚨 100% PASS RATE — FIRST ATTEMPT! 🚨

Join us in congratulating our EMS and Fire Cadets on successfully passing the National Registry EMT exam on their first attempt!

This outstanding achievement reflects their hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving others. The National Registry is a challenging milestone, and this group met it head on with determination and professionalism.

This success is also a testament to the relentless effort of our Training Division and EMS instructors, who invest countless hours ensuring our cadets are prepared, confident, and ready to serve at the highest level.

We are incredibly proud of each of them and excited to see the impact they will make in our community.

Congratulations, Cadets—and thank you to our Training Division for making this possible!
