As we continue working toward reopening West Lincoln Street as soon as possible, our primary goals remain the safety of the public and delivering a quality roadway that will serve the community for years to come. CK Newberry has been working diligently beyond normal working hours to keep the project moving forward while ensuring the work is completed properly and meets the required standards. With the extreme summer heat impacting concrete work, the project team has adjusted its schedule and construction methods as needed. Crews have been starting work early in the morning to pour concrete during more favorable temperatures and allow the concrete to cure within the approved timeframe.
We appreciate the patience and understanding of the public as we continue working through the remaining challenges of this project. Our team is committed to completing the work correctly, safely, and with the quality the community deserves.

Update from Lindsay Community Park: crews are placing the hot mix today, and striping is up next. Please continue to stay off the park grounds. This is still an active construction site with heavy equipment, and we want everyone to stay safe while crews finish the project. Thanks for your patience, we're getting closer to opening day!

Water will be distributed at the Balmorhea Community Center located at 101 I-10 Balmorhea, Texas 79718. Hours shall be from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm, Friday, July 24, 2026. Residents of Balmorhea shall receive one or two cases of bottled of water per family household.

Weather Advisory from US National Weather Service Midland Texas: Multiple days of 100+ degree heat means a greater chance of heat stress and heat illness this week. Be aware of the signs of heat stress, limit time spent outdoors (especially during the hottest part of the day), and stay hydrated!

The excitement surrounding the new Lindsay Community Park is greatly appreciated, and we are looking forward to sharing it with our community. At this time, we kindly ask the public to stay off the park grounds while construction crews complete the remaining work. The site is still an active construction area, and limiting access helps ensure everyone's safety and allows the project to stay on schedule.

We are currently planning a grand opening for mid- to late August. Once construction crews give us the approval that the park is ready, we will officially announce the date and event details. We appreciate everyone's patience and support as we put the finishing touches on this exciting addition to Lindsay. By waiting until the official opening, you'll help ensure that children and families of all ages can safely enjoy the experience of a brand-new park together.

PUBLIC NOTICE From the Office of Reeves County Emergency Management

Due to the recent rainfall across the county, the countywide burn ban has been lifted and is no longer in effect.

The Office of Reeves County Emergency Management will continue to monitor local conditions using the Texas A&M Forest Service Drought Index. When the county's drought point value falls below 575, the Texas A&M Forest Service recommends that counties consider reinstating a burn ban. Residents are encouraged to stay informed, as conditions can change quickly.

For those wishing to enjoy fireworks, the south side parking lot of the Reeves County Civic Center has been designated as a public fireworks area. Please help keep the area clean by disposing of all trash and firework debris properly, and always practice fire safety.

Roadway Improvement Notice – County Road 427

Please be advised that chip seal roadway improvement work is currently underway on County Road 427, approximately 18 miles north of the Town of Pecos City. These maintenance efforts are part of our ongoing commitment to preserving roadway quality, improving driving conditions, and extending the lifespan of county infrastructure.

Motorists traveling in the area are asked to:

Reduce speed to 30 MPH or as otherwise posted

Use caution and remain alert for workers, equipment, and traffic control signage

Expect minor delays during active construction periods

Your cooperation is essential in helping ensure the safety of both the traveling public and road crews, as well as the success of this project. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve our county roads.

Heads up, Pecos drivers 🚧

TxDOT is nearing completion of I‑20 corridor rehab, but one final task remains: repairing expansion joints on the US 285 bridge over I‑20.

Full closure (northbound & southbound) is scheduled Friday evening, April 17, through Monday morning, April 20. Detours will be in place.

We’re sharing this early so you can plan ahead. More details and a detour map will be posted as we get closer.
