Please join us in welcoming Dr. Sarah Monfore as the new principal of Shull Early Learning Center, beginning with the 2026–27 school year.🎉

Dr. Monfore brings 23 years of experience in Missouri public education, including teaching early childhood and elementary special education and serving as an early childhood principal in multiple Kansas City–area districts. Most recently, she has worked in special education in Lee’s Summit.

“I’m excited to get to know the people of the Ray-Pec district and build relationships with students, families, staff, and the community,” Dr. Monfore shared.

Dr. Monfore will follow Dr. Mary Shatford, who will retire at the end of this school year after 28 years of dedicated service to Ray-Pec students and families. Please help us give Dr. Monfore a warm Ray-Pec welcome! 👏

Ray-Pec students recently represented our district at the Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA) Advocacy Day at the State Capitol 🏛️, where they had the opportunity to engage directly with state legislators.

AP Government teacher Kelly Logan brought representatives from each of her classes for this meaningful learning experience. Ciann Courtney, Quinn Sellami, Jurnee Cole, and Keavon Ashley came prepared with thoughtful questions and a strong interest in learning how decisions made at the state level impact public education. During their visit, they met with local legislators and discussed issues affecting Missouri schools.

We’re proud of these students for representing Ray-Pec so well! 👏 Experiences like this show how civic engagement works and remind us that 🎓

From the drawing board to real life! 👾🎨

Third graders in Mrs. Neupane’s class at Eagle Glen Elementary designed their own imaginative monsters. Students in Ms. Ashleigh Easton’s Sculpture class at Ray-Pec High School then brought those drawings to life as 3-D sculptures using clay and paper mâché.

Seeing their creations become real was an unforgettable moment for the young artists—and a great example of creativity and collaboration across Ray-Pec.

🎉 Congratulations to Ray-Pec teacher Grace Abercrombie!

Grace has been named the 2026 Missouri Educators of Family and Consumer Sciences and Human Services (MoEFCS) New Teacher of the Year. This award recognizes outstanding early-career educators making a strong impact in Career and Technical Education and Family & Consumer Sciences.

In the classroom, Grace brings learning to life—like today, when students were learning hands-on skills while making an apple dessert. 🍎 Her dedication to engaging lessons and creating opportunities for students through FACS and FCCLA is exactly why she was nominated by fellow professionals.

We’re proud to celebrate Grace and the difference she makes for Ray-Pec students every day! 👏

Students learn best when they can explore interests, build skills, and apply what they learn in real-world ways. Expanded student learning and activity opportunities are one of the proposed bond's focus areas that voters will consider on April 7.

If approved, facility improvements would create flexible spaces designed to support military leadership programs such as Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC), and innovative career pathways such as drone technology and robotics, while also allowing room for emerging fields like athletic training, sports medicine, and electronic sports (e-sports).

Many of these programs require specialized environments where students can build, test, and practice skills. Adaptable space would allow the district to support a variety of programs as student interests and career pathways continue to evolve.

This week, we’re talking with Ray-Pec Chief Academic Officer Dr. Kristel Barr. Watch the short video to learn more, and visit www.raypec.org/PropRP2026 for additional information about expanded student learning and activity opportunities included in the bond.

Big moments for our littlest learners! ✨

Shull Early Learning Center Principal Dr. Mary Shatford recently shared with the Board of Education all the amazing things happening each day at Shull. From hands-on learning to strong relationships in the classroom, our youngest students are building important academic, social, and emotional foundations. 📚❤️

The highlight? Shull students surprised board members with handmade drawings they created just for them. 🎨 The smiles in the room said it all — a sweet reminder of why early learning matters so much!

Early learning lays the foundation for a strong school district.

As part of the proposed no-tax-rate increase bond, early childhood learning spaces are identified as a key focus area. The proposal includes renovations to the more than 50-year-old Shull Early Learning Center to better support young learners.
Planned improvements include renovated shared learning areas, creating vibrant learning spaces aligned to the developmental needs of young children, and a safer and more welcoming learning environment.

This week, we’re talking with Ray-Pec Chief Academic Officer Dr. Kristel Barr about why an investment in our youngest learners matters.

Watch the short video to learn more, and visit www.raypec.org/PropRP2026 for additional information and early learning specific details.
