I haven’t written about our friend Will Roberts for a few days.
Will is the 14-year-old from Ralph, AL who is bravely fighting bone cancer.
Many of y’all have kindly sent suggestions for treatments than help Will- I get several suggestions a day.
Will’s mom Brittney wants you to know she loves and appreciates each and every one of you- and she doesn’t shun your suggestions but rather welcomes them.
Brittney writes this:
“I am so incredibly thankful for every single person who has shared cancer survival stories, especially those involving holistic approaches. Please don’t ever hesitate to send anything my way if you think it could help. Many of you felt worried you might be out of line by recommending or sharing. Please don’t feel that way. Ever.
“Just know this: I am deeply grateful for you, for your hearts, and for the miracle stories you’ve witnessed and shared in hopes that it might help my baby boy receive his miracle too.
“When I tell you I’ve thrown everything at Will’s cancer besides the kitchen sink- just know… I truly have.
“From the day of diagnosis, we tried it all. Ivermectin. Fenben. Apricot seeds. You name it. I read the studies. I listened to the testimonies. I chased hope in every corner I could find it.
“And somewhere along the way, I became so consumed with finding a miracle cure that it started making Will’s life harder than cancer already was.
“None of that stuff tastes good. He’s fourteen. He hated it. But he still did it-sometimes just to ‘make me feel better.’ I’d say, ‘Come on, Will, come take this medicine,’ and he’d ache and groan because it was a lot. It was already a lot what was prescribed to him… and then I piled on all my witchcraft, holistic remedies, and every suggestion that came my way. It became miserable for him.
“I even joked with him early on that he better hope no one ever shared a study saying dog p**p cured cancer- because if they did, he’d be eating dog p**p (Not really… but also, kinda really.) That’s how far I was willing to go.
“I say all of this to be transparent.
“I am not against traditional medicine.
I am not against holistic medicine.
I am not above trying anything.
“But sarcoma- bone cancer- especially at stage 4… is a beast. An absolute beast. And more often than not, it cannot be beaten without a miracle handed down from Heaven itself, straight from God.
“And that’s where we are. And we’re still thankful for every single one of you who cared enough to share hope with us.”
What a wonderful message to all of us from Brittney- you sense her love for her son.
Christmas is less than a week away.
I think it would be kind of us to send Will, his parents Jason and Brittney, his sister Charlie and his granny our best.
Let’s help the family have a Merry Christmas.
