Jackson Township Vol. Fire Department We are an all Volunteer Fire Department based in Martinsburg Indiana. We are a non-profit 501c3 corporation.

Our mission is to provide safety education, fire suppression, property preservation and, first responder (as available).

This morning we were called for a vehicle stuck in flood waters on Old Palmyra Rd near the intersection of Dutch Creek. Upon arrival units discovered an individual in a tree with his vehicle completely submerged in fast moving water. Conservation officers was contacted for assistance but had a delayed response. Palmyra Fire and Highlander Fire was called to provide assistance. Once on scene Water rescue techs from Jackson, Palmyra and Highlander entered the water to preform the rescue. The driver was successfully rescued with no injuries. This was the fourth water rescue call of the morning. Thanks to Palmyra Fire, Highlander Fire, WCSD, WCEMS, EMA, and Conservation for all the assistance.

Jackson Township Fire Department was dispatched last night at approximately 23:15 to the area of the 1900 block of Dutch Creek road for a vehicle in high water. While on scene we were dispatched for three additional vehicles stuck in high water on Dutch Creek road. Thank you to Washington County Sheriff Department, Washington County EMS and Floyd County Highlander Fire for the assistance.

At approximately 10:44 Jackson Township was dispatched to East rolling meadows drive for a structure fire. Mutual aid was requested from Pierce-Polk, Salem, Floyd County Highlander Fire and from clark county Borden Fire. An aggressive interior was performed.

Bridge rehabilitation project to begin on State Road 335 in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Ram Construction Services Inc. is scheduled to begin a bridge rehabilitation project on State Road 335 on or after Monday, April 27, south of Martinsburg.

Work will take place over Bear Creek, located between Bear Creek Road and Bethlehem Church Road and is expected to be complete in mid-May, weather permitting. During the project, intermittent flagging operations and shoulder closures will be used on S.R. 335.

This project is part of a contract awarded to Ram Construction in February 2026. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.
