The 4th of July Firework show is just around the corner. We would like to remind everyone about a few of the Pekin Park District Ordinance listed below. (For more information/ Ordinances, please go to Pekin Park District)

Under Section 2.02 Alcoholic Liquor:
(B) No Person, other than the District or its agent, shall sell or deliver any alcoholic liquor on District Property.

(D) No person shall bring into, possess, consume, take, use, or transfer any alcoholic liquor on District Property unless he/she is in or on District Property where the possession, consumption, use or transfer of alcoholic liquor is permitted, or unless the alcoholic liquor is legally possessed in an unopened container stored in the trunk of a motor vehicle.

Under Section 2.42 Pyrotechnics/Fireworks.
No person shall upon or in connection with any property of the District possess, set off, ignite, or attempt to set off any firecrackers, fireworks, smoke bombs, rockets, black powder gun or other pyrotechnics without written authorization from the Board.

The Park Police will be out in full force patrolling the parks and make sure everyone has a safe 4th of July.

We are seeing several nests around Mineral Springs Park, and we will soon see baby ducklings and goslings. Though cute and exciting, we ask you to remember the following:

1. Please don't mess with nests, nesting mothers, or their young. They can be very territorial.

2. Please don't feed the wildlife. People's food can cause health issues and weaken gene pools.

It’s that time of the year when the lagoon freezes and everyone is itching to get out there and skate. Currently the lagoon is frozen with weak spots. Please keep off the lagoon until our maintenance department can evaluate the ice. If and when the ice is safe, our maintenance department will update signage.

Position: Part-time police officer

Job Description:
Under the direction of the Chief of Police, a park district police officer's primary responsibility is the protection of people and property. A park district officer is expected to patrol their assigned jurisdiction (nearly 2300 acres), respond to calls for service, investigate criminal offenses, make arrests and issue citations when appropriate, testify in court, assist park patrons, and protect the financial assets of the park district.

Qualifications:
High school diploma (or equivalent)
Must be currently certified as a police officer in the State of Illinois
Must be current on all mandated training set forth by ILETSB.
Minimum of 1 year experience as a police officer
Be of sound moral character
No disqualifying criminal convictions
Complete a thorough background investigation
Available to work a minimum of 2 shifts per month.
Available to work some holidays and special details.

Benefits:
Starting rate of pay: $20.00 / hour.
Special event rate of pay: $30.00 / hour.
Uniforms provided.
Paid training

Other:
Special consideration will be given to applicants with availability during Friday's second and Saturday's first shifts.
