TAZEWELL COUNTY CLERK RELEASES SPECIAL “I VOTED” STICKER TO RECOGNIZE WASHINGTON’S BICENTENNIAL
Press Conference Will Feature Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds, Mayor of Washington, John Morris, And Washington Bicentennial Committee Members
WASHINGTON, IL; The Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds Office held a Press Conference Tuesday, February 18th, at 10:00am at the Washington Bicentennial Office at 128 Washington Square in Washington, Illinois, to showcase the release for the 2025 Consolidated Election of a “I Voted” Sticker to celebrate the Washington Bicentennial. Also attending this Press Conference was City of Washington, Illinois Mayor Gary Manier and Washington City Council Members and Staff, Washington Bicentennial Committee Members, and John Morris of the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
The Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds Office has initiated a series of special “I Voted” Stickers to highlight the upcoming series of community bicentennial celebrations throughout Tazewell County. The first sticker in this series celebrated the City of Pekin for the 2024 Presidential Election. This event will announce the City of Washington celebration for the 2025 Election. Next in the series will be the nation’s 250th Anniversary for the 2026 Primary and then Tazewell County’s Bicentennial for the 2026 General Election, followed by the Village of Mackinaw in 2027.
For the past seven years, the Washington Bicentennial Committee has been working to prepare and organize this year’s bicentennial celebration. What today is the City of Washington was settled by William Holland in 1825. The Washington Bicentennial Committee is Co-Chaired by Leri Slonneger and Jewel Ward.
This event will also serve as a public reminder that Early Voting for the 2025 Consolidated Election will begin Thursday February 20th.

CITY OF PEKIN AND TAZEWELL COUNTY CLERK SHOWCASE POLLING LOCATION ACCESSIBILITY IMPROVEMENTS
City of Pekin Illinois - Government And Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds Utilized Over $63,000 Grant To Improve ADA Accessibility To Pekin Bus Barn Polling Location
PEKIN, IL; The Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds Office and City of Pekin will held a Press Conference Monday, November 4th, to showcase recent ADA Accessibility Improvements to the Pekin Bus Barn Polling Location, located at 1130 Koch Street in Pekin. Pekin Precinct 10 and Cincinnati Precinct 4 both utilize this Polling Location. Present at this event was representatives of the Tazewell County Clerk’s Election Division and City of Pekin.
On October 8th the Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds Office announced it had secured $121,811.50 in Polling Place Accessibility Grant Funding from the Illinois State Board of Elections to make improvements to Tazewell County Polling Locations in Pekin Township, Hittle Township, Spring Lake Township, Cincinnati Township, and Sand Prairie Township. This grant funding will cover 100% of the cost of these improvements. Since then, all of these projects have been implemented and voters will notice the improvements on November 5th at these Polling Locations.
The City of Pekin requested and received $63,314 to make need ADA Accessibility Improvements to this City of Pekin owned Polling Location. The City contracted with MERC Construction to regrade the parking lot, install new curbs and sidewalks, create three new handicap parking spaces, and made the parking lot ADA Accessible from the parking lot to the Bus Barn door. This Press Conference will showcase these improvements that voters will be utilizing on Election Day.
Other ADA Accessibility Grants received by the Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds Office:
1) $9,000 to Cincinnati Township for ADA Accessibility Improvements to the Cincinnati Fire Station utilized by Cincinnati Precinct 3.
