Pekin Police vs. Pekin Fire Charity Softball Game

We'd love to see everyone come out and join us for a fun evening of softball, community, and friendly competition as the Pekin Police Department takes on the Pekin Fire Department in our charity softball game benefiting Special Olympics Illinois.

There is no cost to attend, and while we'll be raising awareness and support for Special Olympics Illinois, our biggest goal is to bring the community together for a fun, family-friendly event.

Whether you're Team Police, Team Fire, or just looking for something fun to do, grab a lawn chair and come cheer on your favorite team. We promise there will be plenty of laughs, a little friendly trash talk, and hopefully some decent softball.

And don't worry about dinner—Fire Foods - The Long Road Home LLC will be on-site serving great food throughout the game.

We hope you'll join us as we support a great cause and spend an evening together as a community. See you at the ball field!

The Pekin Police Department would like to thank the Pekin community for your assistance, vigilance, and for sharing our earlier post. Your willingness to look out for one another continues to make a difference.

MISSING JUVENILE

The Pekin Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing juvenile, Sylvia Notter, who was last seen this morning.

Due to the individual's age, we are limiting the information released publicly. If you have seen Sylvia or have any information regarding her whereabouts, please contact the Pekin Police Department at (309) 346-3132. If the information is urgent, please call 911.

As always, we appreciate the community's assistance in helping us safely locate Sylvia.

HOT WEATHER REMINDER

With summer temperatures on the rise, the Pekin Police Department would like to remind everyone about the dangers of leaving children unattended in vehicles.

Even on a mild day, the temperature inside a parked vehicle can rise rapidly to dangerous levels. Cracking the windows or parking in the shade does little to prevent the interior from becoming dangerously hot. Heat-related illnesses can occur in just minutes and can quickly become life-threatening.

Before you lock your vehicle, always:
-Check the back seat.
-Make it a habit to look before you leave.
-Never leave a child unattended in a vehicle for any length of time.

If you see a child alone in a vehicle and believe they may be in distress, call 911 immediately.

Let's work together to keep our children safe this summer. One quick check can save a life.

The Pekin Police Department is pleased to report that Stella has been located.

We would like to thank everyone who shared the original post, provided information, and assisted in the effort to locate her. The sharing of this post played an important role in helping locate Stella and is a great example of why the support of our community is so important. Your willingness to help bring attention to this situation contributed to this quick, positive outcome.

MISSING PERSON

The Pekin Police Department is attempting to locate Stella Link, 44, who was last seen at approximately 10:21 a.m. on June 1, 2026 in Pekin. The photo below is from a recent encounter and was captured using a body-worn camera image.

Stella is described as wearing a gray hat, white striped shirt, blue jeans, and carrying a large purse. She is believed to be on foot and may be traveling northbound through the Pekin area toward North Pekin.

If you have seen Stella or know her whereabouts, please contact the Pekin Police Department at (309) 346-3132 or call 911.

UPDATED EVENT FLYER & DONATION INFORMATION

We've updated our Police vs. Fire Charity Softball Game flyer to include a QR code that allows supporters to donate directly to Special Olympics Illinois before game day!

Special Olympics Illinois provides life-changing opportunities for athletes with disabilities through sports, competition, friendship, and inclusion. We are proud to support such an amazing organization, and every donation helps make a difference in the lives of these athletes.

If you'd like to contribute, simply scan the QR code on the bottom of the flyer. Donations are greatly appreciated, but they are absolutely not required to attend the game. We want everyone to come out, enjoy a fun evening with the community, and cheer on your favorite team.

Of course, while we're raising money for a great cause, there's also the small matter of settling an important community debate: who reigns supreme when it comes to athletics? The Police Department is confident we'll be bringing home the bragging rights after the ball game!

Come out, support Special Olympics Illinois, enjoy great food, and help us make this event a huge success. We can't wait to see everyone at the ballpark!

Happy National E-Bike Day!

E-bikes and electric scooters have become a popular way to travel, exercise, and enjoy the outdoors. Today is a great reminder to ride safely and know the rules of the road.

A few important safety tips:
✅ Wear a helmet
✅ Obey all traffic signs and signals
✅ Stay alert and avoid distractions
✅ Yield to pedestrians
✅ Use lights and reflective gear when riding after dark

Illinois law limits Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes to a maximum assisted speed of 20 mph. Riders should follow the same traffic laws that apply to other vehicles on the roadway and always operate their e-bikes responsibly. Electric scooters are also subject to state laws designed to keep everyone safe.

Parents and riders should also be aware of age requirements under Illinois law (625 ILCS 5/11-1518). Riders must be at least 18 years old to operate a low-speed electric scooter on public roadways.

Whether you're riding to school, work, or simply enjoying a ride around Pekin, please do your part to keep our streets, sidewalks, and trails safe for everyone.
