UPDATED EVENT FLYER & DONATION INFORMATION

We've updated our Police vs. Fire Charity Softball Game flyer to include a QR code that allows supporters to donate directly to Special Olympics Illinois before game day!

Special Olympics Illinois provides life-changing opportunities for athletes with disabilities through sports, competition, friendship, and inclusion. We are proud to support such an amazing organization, and every donation helps make a difference in the lives of these athletes.

If you'd like to contribute, simply scan the QR code on the bottom of the flyer. Donations are greatly appreciated, but they are absolutely not required to attend the game. We want everyone to come out, enjoy a fun evening with the community, and cheer on your favorite team.

Of course, while we're raising money for a great cause, there's also the small matter of settling an important community debate: who reigns supreme when it comes to athletics? The Police Department is confident we'll be bringing home the bragging rights after the ball game!

Come out, support Special Olympics Illinois, enjoy great food, and help us make this event a huge success. We can't wait to see everyone at the ballpark!

Happy National E-Bike Day!

E-bikes and electric scooters have become a popular way to travel, exercise, and enjoy the outdoors. Today is a great reminder to ride safely and know the rules of the road.

A few important safety tips:
✅ Wear a helmet
✅ Obey all traffic signs and signals
✅ Stay alert and avoid distractions
✅ Yield to pedestrians
✅ Use lights and reflective gear when riding after dark

Illinois law limits Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes to a maximum assisted speed of 20 mph. Riders should follow the same traffic laws that apply to other vehicles on the roadway and always operate their e-bikes responsibly. Electric scooters are also subject to state laws designed to keep everyone safe.

Parents and riders should also be aware of age requirements under Illinois law (625 ILCS 5/11-1518). Riders must be at least 18 years old to operate a low-speed electric scooter on public roadways.

Whether you're riding to school, work, or simply enjoying a ride around Pekin, please do your part to keep our streets, sidewalks, and trails safe for everyone.

Ride smart. Ride safe. Enjoy National E-Bike Day!

⚾ COMMUNITY CHARITY SOFTBALL GAME ⚾

Mark your calendars and come join the Pekin Police Department and Pekin Fire Department for a fun-filled charity softball game benefiting Special Olympics Illinois!

This is more than just a softball game, it’s a chance for our Police and Fire Departments to come together with the community, share some laughs, enjoy a little friendly competition, and raise money for an amazing cause.

Admission is FREE to everyone!
There will be several ways to donate before and during the event, with more information coming soon. Every donation helps support the incredible athletes of Special Olympics Illinois.

Come hungry! Food will be available from Long Road Home LLC food truck throughout the game.

We’re expecting plenty of laughs, some questionable athletic ability by the Fire Department, and just enough competition to keep the bragging rights alive for the next year. While the Fire Department may know how to handle heat, we’re pretty confident they won’t be able to handle the Pekin Police Department lineup on the softball field.

So grab your family, bring your friends, and help us pack the stands for a great night supporting a great cause. We can’t wait to see you there!

This week, we proudly recognize National Police Week, a time to honor the men and women who have taken the oath to serve and protect their communities, and to remember the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

The Pekin Police Department would like to thank our officers, staff, retirees, and law enforcement partners for their continued dedication, professionalism, and commitment to keeping our community safe. We also extend our deepest gratitude to the families who stand behind them every day.

During National Police Week, we pause to reflect on that service and recognize those who wear the badge with honor.

To our community: thank you for your continued support of the Pekin Police Department. It is an honor to serve the City of Pekin.
