Huge congratulations to our Executive Director, Keith McKeever! πŸŽ‰ Keith was recently chosen to sit on the United Way Human Resources Council alongside a small, elite group of leadership and HR professionals from around the world.

Though HR is just a fraction of what Keith does for us daily, we are excited to see him use this platform to advocate for and represent smaller United Way chapters across the entire network.

🌈 Happy Pride Month from the United Way of Pekin! 🌈

At United Way, we believe that a strong community is one where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. This June, we are proud to celebrate our LGBTQ+ neighbors, partners, and advocates who make our region so vibrant.

True equity means ensuring everyone has access to the building blocks of a good lifeβ€”quality education, financial stability, and healthy livesβ€”free from discrimination or barriers. When we lift up the LGBTQ+ community, we build a more resilient, inclusive, and thriving community for all.

Join us in celebrating diversity, promoting inclusion, and living united this month and every month. β€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œ

We couldn't be more proud of this young woman right here! She spent her senior year working with us as part of the Pekin Community High School District 303 work based learning program. She really set the bar high for future participants too!

All of us here at the United Way of Pekin will miss having you around Lily, good luck on your college adventures and whatever life has in store beyond that!

May is mental health awareness month.

As I sit here and write this out and think about this month and what it means both locally and around the globe I can't help but feel that we all have quite a bit more awareness now than we used to have collectively about mental health.

What it is?
Why it is important?
What options do we have to deal with things?
A general awareness of various types of mental health challenges.
Direct experiences ourselves or with loved ones.

While this is positive, we can certainly understand as a society we have more work to do in ending stigmas around mental health, understanding what affects us each and realizing what resources we actually have at our disposal to deal with challenges.

If you or a loved one is facing challenges please remember you can call #988 for assistance.

🌍 Happy Earth Day!

A healthy community starts with a healthy environment β€” and at United Way, we know that when our neighborhoods are strong, our people are strong too. πŸ’š

Community resiliency means more than bouncing back from hardship. It means building neighborhoods that can withstand challenges β€” whether that's extreme weather, economic hardship, or public health crises β€” and come out stronger on the other side.

This Earth Day, we're committed to investing in the people, places, and programs that help our community stand firm. A resilient community isn't built overnight β€” it's built by people who show up for each other, year after year.

This Earth Day, let's commit to showing up and being better stewards of this place we call home! πŸ’›

πŸ“… It's Tax Day β€” and while you're thinking about finances, we're thinking about your neighbors right here in our community who need a helping hand to build a stronger financial future.

This Tax Day, remember that your support of United Way helps fund resources that help working families keep more of what they earn. πŸ’™

Together, we can make sure everyone has the tools they need to thrive β€” not just survive.
