This morning, I was blessed to bring and support a message during Red Ribbon Week to the full student body of Pekin Community High School. It was an amazing feeling seeing this huge gym packed with teenagers and supported by their educators, listening to a message. That message was "Be Kind to Your Mind, Live Drug Free". My hope is that the message given was able to help that one person struggling with life choices.

A huge thank you to the Tazewell County Health Department and Coroner Charlie Hanley for sponsoring Morgan Hannaleck for this mornings all school assembly. Students learned how to take control of their mental health and other coping strategies for the challenges they face.

10/22/2023

The Red Ribbon Campaign is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, reaching millions of young people during Red Ribbon Week, October 23-31 each year.

The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is to create awareness concerning the problems related to the use of to***co, alcohol, and other drugs and also to support the decision to live a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

This year’s theme is “Be Kind to Your Mind. Live Drug Free.™”

This week, Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley, along with the Tazewell County Health Department, is bringing this message to six Tazewell County schools with school assemblies led by a professional speaker from Teen Truth.
