Local 524 is comprised of the Firefighters, Engineers, and Captains of the Pekin Fire Department, serving the citizens, workers, and visitors of the City of Pekin, Powerton Fire Protection District, and Brush Hill Fire Protection District in central Illinois. The Pekin Fire Department is a 52-member, career emergency response and life safety organization which provides fire suppression, fire preve

ntion, rescue, safety education, and emergency medical services. In addition, the department is the lead department of the Tazewell County MABAS Division 42 Hazardous Materials and Technical Rescue Team

Station 2, known as Northside, is located at 1000 N 14th Street. Northside was built in 1961 and houses Engine 2 and EMS 2. Northside's primary district stretches from the river to Parkway north of downtown. It also extends out Broadway and Sheridan and includes the entirety of McNaughton Park.
