Today is Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day, and we're honoring the dedicated men and women who selflessly serve their communities.

Volunteer firefighters respond to emergencies at all hours, train year-round, and sacrifice time with their families to help others when they're needed most.

To every volunteer firefighter across the country: thank you for your courage, your commitment, and everything you do to keep your communities safe.

At 09:04 this morning we were dispatched for an excavator fire. Upon arrival the cab and engine compartment were fully involved. 104 heat index and turnout gear makes for a tough morning. Thanks to EOC 4 & 5, Pafford 451, and Rankin SO for their assistance.

It’s been a long time coming, but we finally have our brush truck in service. Proceeds from the last fish fry helped pay for the skid unit. Thank you for your support that enables us to outfit this truck to add another piece of equipment to help us better serve and protect our community.

What does volunteering for the fire department look like? Well, you have the folks that respond to emergency calls, whether they are medical, fire, vehicle accidents or other public service calls. Other folks want to help the fire department but don’t want to fight fire or run medical calls, so what do they do?
Help at our fish fry, help rehab personnel on a fire scene, and some cut grass!! They do a great job of it. Thank you to the neighbors that keep the grass cut at station 1 and thanks to the men who keep station 3 grass cut. It means a lot to us that you are willing to help keep the grass looking good at our stations!!
We encourage you to reach out to your local volunteer fire department to see how you may be able to take some of the burden off your first responders. There are many ways you can serve without responding to calls, if that’s not your thing. Please consider it.
