Teachers spent a day full of engagement with the outdoors, with content for the workshop encompassing benthic macroinvertebrate sampling, live animal programs, studies on Alabama's amazing biodiversity, and much more!

Thank you to all the educators who joined us for the workshop, and to Drummond Company, Inc. for making these transformative educational opportunities possible for Alabama's teachers and students.

Last week at Oak Mountain State Park, our Central District Education Team led an inspiring professional development workshop, Teaching Beyond the Walls: Alabama's Ecology in Action, focused on biodiversity, environmental literacy, and place-based learning.

Teachers experienced stories, science, and hands-on exploration, learning diverse strategies for engaging students in the outdoor classrooms of Alabama State Parks. The day included immersion hikes, wonder activities, STEM-based Universal Design for Learning Windows to Nature Fairy Houses, live animal programs, and even a little benthic macroinvertebrate wrangling. Teachers took home a “pocket” of treasures, including books, lesson plans, tools, and more!

Thank you to all the educators who joined us in discovering Alabama's Ecology in Action, and to The Caring Foundation of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama for making these transformative educational opportunities possible for Alabama's teachers and students.
