IN THIS TOGETHER:
Take a moment to ask yourself these questions. It is imperative that we all take care of ourselves during the COVID19 crisis.

This is especially important for those who are self-isolating or are quarantined. Check on your neighbors, whether it’s a conversation through the window or a simple phone call. Find out if they are okay mentally and physically.

Yes, social distancing is necessary to flatten the curve. However, we are all in this together, and we need to continue to care for one another just like we always have.

COVID-19:

COVID-19 RESPONSE:
In the midst of uncertainty, we need you to know we are here for you. We are an essential service, and we swore an oath to serve and protect. We won't stop working to keep you and your loved ones safe.

With that in mind, we need to let you know that we're doing our part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and hopefully flatten the curve. That means our response to certain calls will change for the foreseeable future, and some non-essential services, such as fingerprinting, will be suspended.

Effective immediately, we will only respond in person to EMERGENCY calls for service. This means a life-threatening incident or one in which public safety is jeopardized. If you find yourself in a situation like this, call 9-1-1.

All non-emergency calls for service will be handled over the telephone, and no reports will be taken in person. In order to protect you, as well as our officers and civilian employees, we're asking that you call our main business line in order to reach an officer. The number is 205-620-6550. Our dispatchers are standing by ready to assist you.

We've posted additional information and helpful links on our website. Please take a moment to read it.

COMMUNITY MEET-UP SPOT:
It's really wonderful to see communities come together in such uncertain times to help neighbors, friends and even strangers.

If you are lending a helping hand by shopping for the elderly or immunocompromised, or if you're simply sharing a roll or two of toilet paper, thank you for spreading kindness and reassurance.

For those who are meeting up to pick up or exchange items, we want to remind you all that we have a designated meet-up spot in our parking lot that has 24/7 video surveillance. Just look for the green signs. The spaces are marked with green paint.

Update from Pelham City Schools for parents: Schools closed effective immediately due to concerns about COVID-19

March 14, 2020 9:00 PM

Out of an abundance of caution related to COVID-19, Pelham City Schools will now be closed effective Monday, March 16 with a planned return date of Monday, April 6. This change of plans is based on a recent communication from the State Department of Education giving local systems that authority and continued discussions with our neighboring school district leaders.

While we understand this change may pose a challenge to some families related to childcare, this is an ever-changing situation, and we're making decisions that prioritize the health and well-being of our students and staff.

Employees will receive an e-mail from the Superintendent by Sunday providing further instructions and details related to the updated school closure dates.
