On this Peace Officer's Memorial Day, we honor our fallen brother, Philip Davis. He was killed during a traffic stop on I65 Dec. 4, 2009.

Ten years have passed since his death, but his legacy lives on. The Philip Mahan Davis Foundation has impacted countless lives, as it supports the families of first responders killed or seriously wounded in the line of duty.

Escaped inmate back in custody

Theodoric Raphael Boglin Jr. was taken into custody at 9:43 p.m. by Hoover Police officers in the woods near La Quinta Inn. Boglin escaped from the Hoover City Jail at 10:19 a.m. after accessing a perimeter door. Officers had been searching for Boglin since this morning and received a tip he was spotted near Riverchase Parkway and Valleydale Road. With the assistance of several of our partner agencies, Boglin was taken into custody without incident.

He was originally arrested at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday for firing shots at his girlfriend near the Circle K in the 2000 block of Valleydale Road. Detectives obtained the following warrants today:

Theodoric Raphael Boglin Jr.​​​24 years old​​​​​Hoover, AL

- Attempted Murder​​​​​​​​ $120,000.00 bond

- Escape 2nd degree​​​​​​​​ $120,000.00 bond

- License to carry pistol required​​​​​​​ $1,000.00 bond

$241,000.00 Total Bond

Boglin was transported to the Shelby County Jail.

Police Searching for Escaped Jail Inmate

Hoover Police are currently searching for a suspect after he escaped from the Hoover City Jail this morning. Please be on the lookout for:

Theodoric Rapheal Boglin Jr. 24 years old Hoover, AL

Boglin was arrested last night after he fired shots at his girlfriend near the Circle K, in the 2000 block of Valleydale Road. He was arrested at 11:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Homewood Suites on Riverchase Parkway East and transported to the Hoover City Jail. Detectives were in the process of obtaining formal arrest warrants against Boglin when he escaped. The details of his escape are currently under investigation but it appears he was able to access a perimeter door.

Boglin was last seen at 10:19 a.m. in the area of Valleydale Road wearing a black and white Hoover City Jail uniform. Multiple officers are currently searching the area. If you see Boglin or have information concerning his whereabouts, please call 911 or Hoover Police at 205-822-5300. If you wish to remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward, please contact Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama at 205-254-7777.

Three hundred seven (307) names are being engraved on the walls of the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, DC, adding to the nearly 22,000 killed in the line of duty already memorialized there. Seven of those are from Alabama.

PUBLIC NOTICE:
The Pelham Police Department will be conducting a DUI Enforcement Checkpoint this weekend.

The checkpoint will be in place no earlier than 11:00pm Saturday, May 9th and will end on or before 4:00 am on Sunday, May 10, 2020.

The location of the checkpoint will be Helena Road near the intersection of North Chandalar Drive/Beaver Creek Parkway. Motorists who travel through the checkpoint will be asked by an officer to present their driver’s license, proof of liability insurance, and vehicle registration. It is anticipated that a motorist will be delayed approximately 60-90 seconds once their documents are provided to the officer to be verified.

A KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft from the 117th Air Refueling Wing will be flying over hospitals in Huntsville and Birmingham on Tuesday. This mission is a part of the nationwide Air Force Salutes Flyover under Operation American Resolve.

AMBER ALERT

ALEA has issued an Amber Alert for 6-year old Miy’Angel Crutchfield, who was abducted in Centreville. She is missing two front teeth, and her hair is half braided. Miy’Angel was possibly wearing pink lounge pants and a white shirt around 9am May 2nd and is believed to be in extreme danger.

She was abducted by 22-year old Jasmine Denise Crutchfield, who has M K J S tattooed on her wrist. They may be traveling to Ohio in a Silver sedan with Ohio plates.

After a long stay at the hospital with a rare form of liver cancer, Destiny Riekeberg was welcomed home today with some help from neighbors, family, friends and the Pelham Police and Fire departments. She still has a battle ahead, but her spirits were lifted through this thoughtful parade.
