I am seeking my second term on the Pelham City Council. My husband, Alan and I, along with our five children have been delighted to call Pelham home for 17 years. For the past seven years, I have worked at St. Vincent's Health System. My current role is the Manager of Operations for St. Vincent’s East, St. Clair and Blount. Four of my five children, Jenny, Andy, Abby and Lindsay have all gone thro
ugh the Pelham school system and are graduates of Pelham High School. Our youngest, Nick is now a senior at Pelham High School and will graduate in May 2017. Jenny works for America’s First Federal Credit Union and is married to Matt Ling. Andy is a Mechanical Engineer with MGA Research. Abby just completed her first year of physical therapy school at the University of South Alabama and is married to PHS graduate Trevor Fitts who went on to play baseball at Mississippi State University. Lindsay is working towards her culinary degree at Jefferson State Community College. We have enjoyed many wonderful memories at Pelham City Park playing and watching softball and baseball games. More community events that have been fun for the family include: Easter Egg Hunts, Taste of Pelham, Fire on the Water, and the Pelham Palooza. It has been a pleasure to serve the City of Pelham during my first term and I am very proud of our accomplishments. The Pelham City Council’s initiative to launch and fund Pelham City Schools was a key step in providing much needed programs, technology and new school facilities. The renovation of the Moore-Handley Building into the beautiful Summer Classics Headquarters and retail store created a fresh new look for Highway 31. We also understood the importance of limiting specific businesses in order to promote more family friendly businesses leading to the implementation of the moratorium that restricts additional pawn shops, tattoo parlors, pay day loan stores, etc., in the city of Pelham. The City Park expansion into the City Center will include the new trails, a recreation center, outdoor basketball/volleyball courts and a new library, which will all be fantastic additions to our existing park. By creating and funding the Commercial Development Authority (CDA) we have taken another important step in invigorating our critical Highway 31 commercial area. We love our home and our community. My commitment is to make Pelham uniquely ours and the best that it can be by supporting a sound budget, promoting our incredible facilities and encouraging new economic growth. I would appreciate your vote on August 23, 2016.
