“Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey on Tuesday extended the state's Safer at Home order through July 31 as the state experiences an uptick in its Covid-19 cases. The order was scheduled to end on July 3.
Unlike some other states that are seeing an increase in cases, Alabama's extended order did not roll back any reopening provisions.
The extension includes no major changes from the prior Safer at Home order that was issued in May. That means capacity restrictions will continue at retailers and entertainment venues, while restaurants must continue to adhere to guidelines that include six feet of distancing between tables and other restrictions.
While Ivey opted against a return to more stringent prior regulations for businesses and others, she called upon the state to take the virus seriously and adhere to recommendations and guidelines.
“We are still in the thick of this (virus) and it is deadly,” Ivey said.
Ivey urged the state's residents to wear masks and practice social distancing.
"Personal responsibility means it’s everyone’s responsibility," Ivey said. "It takes us all to be vigilant and adhering to social distancing guidelines."
Alabama State Health Officer Scott Harris said the percentage of individuals who are testing positive for Covid-19 is rising.
Ivey said the state's hospitals are not currently overwhelmed, but she reserved the right to reverse course on restrictions if that situation changes.
The state also said it will offer more detailed county-level information that will better illustrate local-level Covid-19 data, which could be utilized by local officials.”

2020 GOD AND COUNTRY UPDATE: As we all know, things are quite different this year, in accordance with national, state and local considerations related to Covid-19 and social distancing guidelines. So, here are our current tentative plans.
1. There WILL be a fireworks display at approximately 8:45 pm on June 28th, in the usual location, (assuming there are no further restrictions before then). The fireworks display can be viewed from the gazebo parking lot, Main St (in front of the bank/church) or from Central Park (across Hwy25). Please arrive early enough to claim a spot which will allow for social distancing, in accordance with local and state guidelines: generally, they are "six feet of separation between persons who do not
share the same household." See specifics at the state website linked below.
2. Our customary food, music and inflatables will NOT be held on June 28th.
3. Our customary food, music and inflatables activities have been tentatively rescheduled for Sep 6th (the Sunday before Labor Day), dependent upon guidelines and community conditions in effect at that date. We will update on any changes as we find out.
Thanks so much for your patience!

It is vital that workforce development practitioners in the State are informed of companies hiring needs so that training providers are offering relevant coursework and credentials. Therefore, we ask that you please take the Governor’s Survey of Employer Competencies and provide feedback on qualifications your company seeks for job openings in your operation.
Please note the survey encompasses twenty (20) industry clusters so its applicable to everyone. Survey responses will be utilized by Technical Advisory Committees along with Subject Matter Experts to incorporate the competencies and credentials identified into training programs at secondary and post-secondary levels throughout the State. The survey only takes 10 – 15 minutes.
The link expires, Friday, June 26th so please act soon.
A simple survey, designed to gain a clear understanding of the industry requirements associated with “in-demand” occupations across Alabama.
