Round 1 this morning was apparently just the weather equivalent of a warm-up lap.

From 11 AM to 5 PM, Marion County remains in a 3 out of 5 risk for severe storms.

Potential hazards:
Tornadoes
Damaging winds
Large hail
lash flooding

If the sun makes a brief appearance, consider it an intermission—not the end of the show. Additional storms are expected to develop this afternoon.

Today's forecast in one sentence:
The atmosphere looked at Round 1 and said, "Again."

Stay weather aware friends, and keep those alerts turned on.

The City of Pella uses an outdoor siren system to warn the public about potential weather-related hazards.
The system is designed to warn persons outdoors, not inside buildings or structures.
The following events trigger the warning system to sound:
🌟National Weather Service issuing a tornado warning with Pella included in the warning polygon.
🌟Severe thunderstorm warnings where forecasted or actual wind speeds reach or exceed 70 mph.
🌟Golf ball or larger-sized hail.
🌟When the sirens are triggered, they will sound for three minutes, followed by a 10 to 15-minute break for the duration of the warning period.
🌟The warning system does not provide an “all clear” signal, so citizens should monitor local media for updates during the storm.

Stay weather aware and entertained by following along with Marion County Emergency Management Agency.

📢 Meal Distribution Traffic Reminder📢

JUST FOR TUESDAY, JUNE 9...we will be back to normal on Thursday!

To help keep everyone safe and traffic flowing smoothly, please enter through the Church of the Nazarene parking lot off University Street (there will be signs!). Cars will then follow the driveway and be directed to the circle drive, exiting onto Prairie Street, then to Huber Street and the circle lot. Volunteers will be available to help direct traffic.

⏰ Please do NOT arrive before 11:30 a.m. ⏰

The Church of the Nazarene is hosting Vacation Bible School, with parent pick-up taking place until approximately 11:30–11:45 a.m. We need to allow time for families to pick up children and for volunteers to safely leave the parking lot before meal distribution traffic begins.

Your cooperation helps keep streets open, lines moving, and everyone safe. Please help us spread the word by sharing this information with friends, neighbors, and anyone who may be picking up meals this summer.

Thank you for helping make this program run smoothly for everyone...it's just for Tuesday, June 9...back to the normal way on Thursday!

The Pella Police Department has partnered with our local Dairy Queen, Culver's, McDonald's, Sweet Henry’s, De Scoop, Chick-Fil-A, and Burger King for our 6th annual Cones for Helmets campaign. This summer, we want to reward our local youth who choose to wear their bicycle helmets. If our Officers are available, they'll stop to issue ice cream/meal coupons. We'd like to remind the kids to continue riding safely, and if possible, the Officers will come to them. Along with wearing your helmet, make sure you’re following all traffic laws, such as stopping at stop signs and traffic lights. If you’re riding after dark, make sure to purchase lights for the front and at least a reflector for the back of your bike. Remember to have fun this summer and to always wear your helmet.
