We’re proud to announce that Adam Novak has been named Iowa EMS Instructor of the Year!

Adam is a critical care paramedic at Pella Community Ambulance and has put a lot of time and effort into the Pella Community Ambulance School of EMS. We appreciate everything he has done to help our students learn and grow.

Adam will receive his award at the IEMSA Conference on November 14. Congratulations, Adam! Well deserved!

Pella Community Ambulance Named 2026 Iowa EMS Service of the Year!

We’re excited to share that Pella Community Ambulance has been named the 2026 Iowa EMS Service of the Year! We will receive this recognition at the IEMSA Conference on November 14 at the Iowa Events Center.

This award recognizes our efforts to strengthen EMS in our community and surrounding areas through several initiatives:

• EMS Education: Becoming a training center to educate and prepare EMTs and AEMTs to serve our communities.
• Work-Life Balance: Implementing a 24/72 work schedule to better support our employees.
• Mental Health Support: Providing daily access to crisis canines at the station and mental health check-ins through First Response Therapy.
• Community Outreach: Bringing crisis canines into the community to support connection and well-being.

We’re proud to see these efforts recognized and grateful for the people who continue to make them possible. This award reflects our ongoing commitment to our employees, our profession, and the communities we serve.

Happy Birthday to Critical Care Paramedic Nial Van Wyk!

Nial is part of our part time staff and works full time as a farmer with his family. Throughout his time at PCA, Nial has served in many capacities, including EMT, Paramedic, CCP, and as a full time staff member. When he’s not working, Nial enjoys boating, snowboarding, and spending time with family and friends. One of the things that makes Nial so special is the laughter, jokes, and joy he brings to the station whenever he’s on shift.

We are incredibly lucky to have such a caring, attentive, and dedicated provider on our service. Thank you for your service Nial and we hope you have had a wonderful birthday so far! 🎉🎊🎂

Happy birthday to EMT Justin Manifold!

Justin is one of our amazing part time EMTs and we are so grateful to have him as part of our department! Justin has helped our department in so many ways. He is an incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate EMT who shows genuine care for every patient in the back of an ambulance. He is also always willing to lend a hand when it comes to technical problems at the station which we are so blessed to have. Technology is one of Justin’s many strong suits, and he generously shares his time and knowledge to help us keep things running smoothly.
Justin, we are truly blessed to have you here at PCA. Thank you for all the time, knowledge, compassion, and dedication you give to our department and to this community.

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the courage of the first responders, service members, and civilian people who showed extraordinary bravery. Let us honor and remember those who were killed and the families and loved ones that were impacted by this tragedy.
