🍔 Today is National Hamburger Day — a food many of us enjoy at cookouts, restaurants, and around the dinner table. But for many families, putting any meal on the table isn’t always guaranteed.

Did you know that 1 in 8 Iowans faces food insecurity? That means thousands of individuals and families across our communities are unsure where their next meal will come from.

At the shelf, we are committed to helping our neighbors access the food they need. Every donation, volunteer hour, and act of kindness helps make a difference. 💚

This National Hamburger Day, consider supporting your local food shelf through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness.

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. 🇺🇸

As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, we pause to reflect on the courage, service, and dedication of those who gave so much for our freedoms.

⏰ Reminder! Kids in the Kitchen: Pesto Night is happening this week! ⏰

Kids ages 8–12 are invited to join us on Thursday, May 14 from 4:00–5:30 PM at the Shelf for a fun evening of cooking gnocchi, chicken, and vegetables with pesto.

There’s still time to sign up, but spots may fill quickly! Contact Livia Moore at 641-780-7914 for questions or to register.

Summer is almost here! ☀️

If you’re looking for something to donate, consider picking up a few condiments. Items like ketchup, mustard, mayo, and salad dressings are often in high demand but rarely donated, making them a special treat for families.

With kids home for the summer, these small extras can make meals feel a little more complete. 💛

🍃 Happening in just one week! 🍃

Kids in the Kitchen is back with a delicious Pesto Night

Kids ages 8–12 are invited to join us on Thursday, May 14 from 4:00–5:30 PM at the Shelf as we make gnocchi, chicken, and vegetables with pesto.
