On May 14 we trained at the Pellston Regional Airport for the annual Live Burn.

At this training, firefighters recertify for Airport Rescue and Firefighting to include Aircraft Fuel Fires and Aircraft Search and Rescue for Survivors.

The Pellston Fire Department works hand in hand with the ARFF staff at the Pellston Regional Airport in all emergency situations and training together encourages smooth operational outcomes.

Last night our firefighters and MFRs trained on a scenario with a downed aircraft near the airport.

Teams tracked the activated ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter) to locate the "pilot" who was in need of emergency medical services. After addressing the patients wounds and preparing him for transport, teams used a backboard and our rescue sled to bring him out to the road where he could then be transported to the nearest facility.

Training keeps our skills sharp so that in an actual emergency crews will be able to draw on their experience to successfully achieve their goals.

Last night's FD family potluck was a great time! We had twice as many people as expected and it was wonderful to catch up outside of meetings and calls. We met some new family members, made connections and laughed a lot. We need to remember to do this more often, bonding outside of work is what makes our team stronger.

It was pointed out that baby JT has the same haircut as Ken Sydow! I guess Ken is a trend setter for the younger generation!
Nolan and Destiny were determined to stack a water bottle tower. They made it to three and I took a photo. Then it was mentioned that we have a friend who got FOUR stacked and a new challenge was met.
