Officer Agustin Lopez got a surprise 2-for-1 deal at the Pembroke Lakes Mall today when he caught these cars illegally stopped in disabled parking spots.

Here is a quick list of tips to the drivers that don't seem to get it:
♿️ If you have a handicapped parking placard you MUST keep it visible in your vehicle when parked in a designated handicapped space.

♿️ The space directly next to handicapped parking spots with blue slashed lines across it? THAT IS NOT A FREE PARKING SPOT! It is for wheelchair access.

♿️ A handicapped placard is assigned to a person, not a car. You can't use a handicapped placard if the disabled person is not with you.

♿️ If your handicapped placard is expired, don't use it.

♿️ You cannot stop, stand, or park in a handicapped parking spot for ANY amount of time if you do not have a handicapped placard.

All of the above infractions will result in a $250 fine. Avoid the unexpected cost and leave the handicapped parking spots for those with actual disabilities or medical impairments.

During the early morning hours, an arrest warrant was served inside of the Camden Portofino community (NW 108 Avenue & NW 3 Street). Though no threats were made, due to the presence of fi****ms inside the residence the homes directly surrounding the location were temporarily evacuated until the subject was safely taken into custody.

The subject is being charged with burglary.

And thank you to our community partners at Dairy Queen for hosting the event!

Our officers are paying attention 👀 to all the comments that are reporting where to look for handicapped parking violators... Keep it coming! If you are seeing habitual bad behavior from drivers in our city, let us know where & when so we can send officers to the area to catch them in the act.

Unfortunately for this driver, Officer Alex Brock didn't mistake his dangling air freshener for a valid disabled parking permit. 🧐

REMINDER - if you have a valid disabled parking permit, you must properly display it in your vehicle & the person it is assigned to must be traveling in the car. And if you DON'T have a valid disabled parking permit, leave these spots alone or be ready to receive a $250 fine.

Our PPPD Animal Assistance Program does its best to take in lost dogs found in our city & keep them at our PD kennels until we can locate their owners. Unfortunately we've rescued a lot of dogs recently that have no identifying information on them (collars or microchips), so our kennels are currently full. 😩

These two dogs were found yesterday near Sheridan Street & NW 199 Avenue, and no one has called to claim them. Do you recognize these sweet girls? Contact our PPPD Animal Assistance Program at 954-431-2200.

We're also in need of any local fosters who are willing to help us temporarily care for lost dogs. Please fill out an application at 👉 poochesinpines.com.

And TO ALL PET OWNERS 🐶🐱: Please microchip your animals! If we find them & they are microchipped, it helps us quickly get them back home to you.
