Over the last 24 hours, Pembroke Firefighters responded to 18 emergencies.

Off-duty firefighters were recalled five times due to simultaneous incidents, including a motor vehicle rollover. The occupant was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

So far this year, we have responded to more than 1,600 calls for service.

Within the last 24 hours, we have had three instances where three or more simultaneous calls occurred, and we had to call in off-duty firefighters.

Currently, the entire duty shift is committed to three medical calls, and the Chief and Deputy Chief are responding to a brush fire on Cross Street.

Around 11:30 AM, we responded to a reported brush fire. Upon arrival, crews found two sheds and over an acre of woods burning.

At the same time, two ambulances with four on-duty members were tied up on other calls, so off-duty personnel were called in to assist. Even our high school intern stepped in to help. A brush truck from Duxbury Fire also responded.

All on-duty firefighters are currently handling a high-priority medical call, a multi-patient motor vehicle accident, and an additional medical emergency. Off-duty personnel have been called in, and a mutual aid ambulance from Kingston is assisting.

This marks the third time since Sunday that the entire duty shift has been tied up, requiring off-duty members and mutual aid to cover calls.

We are currently working at a house fire on Washington Street. This fire was reported when most of the duty shift was committed to three simultaneous medical calls. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
