**Playground Progress Update 🌳🛝**

I wanted to share an update on the work that has been taking place at our playground since my last post.

First, **thank you again to the parents and community members who reached out and brought concerns to our attention.** I especially appreciate the moms who took the time to share what they were seeing. Your feedback matters, and our goal is to make sure our parks are places our families can enjoy and be proud of.

Since then, our maintenance department has been working to address several of the issues:

• Fresh mulch has been added throughout the play areas.
• Playground equipment has been power washed.
• Graffiti has been covered and addressed.
• Grass maintenance has been increased to **weekly service every Thursday**.
• I donated **two new commercial-grade baby swings** to replace the swings that were needed.
• We have also recently installed **new commercial picnic tables under the pavilion** following the last vandalism incident.

I want to give a special **thank you to our maintenance department** for the work they have put in. Many of the things they do happen quietly behind the scenes, but their efforts make a real difference in our community.

There is **still work to be done**, and I don't want to give the impression that every issue has been solved. We are continuing to evaluate the playground and actively work through the items that need attention.

Taking care of our parks is an ongoing effort, and unfortunately vandalism can sometimes set that work back. But when concerns are brought to us, we want our community to know that we are listening and working to address them.

Thank you to everyone who spoke up, offered constructive feedback, and continues to help us take care of a place that belongs to all of us. ❤️

**Progress doesn't mean finished...but it does mean we're moving in the right direction.**

💛 LET'S START LOOKING FOR THE GOOD IN PEMBROKE! 💛

There is a lot of good happening in our community every single day.

A neighbor helping a neighbor. A young person doing the right thing when no one is watching. Someone stopping to lend a hand. A business employee going above and beyond. A teacher, first responder, volunteer, coach, church member, city employee...or simply a stranger...making someone's day a little better.

Sometimes these acts are big. More often, they're small.

I think it's time we started noticing them.

I'm excited to launch Caught Being Good: The Pembroke Positivity Project, a new initiative dedicated to recognizing the kindness, generosity, service, encouragement, and everyday GOOD happening all around us.

And I need YOU to help me find it!

👀 Caught somebody being good?

Tell us about them! Anyone whose kindness or positive actions make a difference in the Pembroke community can be nominated: children, teenagers, adults, neighbors, employees, volunteers, friends, or even someone you don't know at all.

We'll select stories to share and recognize some of the wonderful people who help make Pembroke special.

There is no prize to win and no popularity contest. This is simply about doing something I think we could all use a little more of:

Celebrating the GOOD. 💛

👇 Nominate someone here:
bit.ly/PembrokePositive

And then keep looking...

You never know who you'll catch being good next! 🚂💛

Anyone can be nominated! Nominees do not have to live in the City of Pembroke. The act of kindness, service, or positive impact should have a meaningful connection to Pembroke or the people who live, work, learn, serve, or spend time in our community.

An additional fun fact, the buildings pictured here are the set of buildings recently vacated by the Pembroke Senior Citizens Center! In addition to the face lift the buildings also lost their second floors in this renovation.

🕰️ Throwback Thursday - 1966

Three years after Owens Supply opened its doors in 1963, this photo was taken.

Back then, we were supplying materials for our local bank. Fast forward 60 years…and we’re still here, still serving the same community.

And believe it or not - our phone number hasn’t changed. 😂

📞 912-653-2331

That number has been ringing at Owens for over six decades.

Which got us thinking…

If we were supplying the materials for buildings in 1966, just how many homes, businesses, barns and other projects around here have a little bit of Owens in them?

We may not have a record of every one, but we know there have been a LOT.

That’s pretty cool to think about.

Same number. Same hometown. Same family business. Since 1963.

And we’re still here when you’re ready for the next project.
