🇺🇸📚 PEMBROKE READS 250 IS OFFICIALLY HERE! 📚🇺🇸

School may be out, but the adventure is just beginning!

I’m excited to officially launch Pembroke Reads 250 — our Mayor’s Reading Club Summer Challenge celebrating America’s 250th birthday through books, imagination, and learning!

🦉 This summer, we’re challenging Pembroke to read 100,000 minutes together as a community while unlocking fun milestones along the way!

🎉 COMMUNITY READING MILESTONES:

📚 25,000 Minutes → Mayor Storytime Event
🍧 50,000 Minutes → Popsicles at the Park
⭐ 75,000 Minutes → Star Reader Celebration Week
🍦 100,000 Minutes → Ice Cream with the Mayor Finale!

✨ EVERY registered reader helps us unlock community goals!

To participate in the finale celebration, readers simply need to complete 250 reading minutes this summer — that’s just a little reading at a time!

✅ Participation is FREE
✅ Read what YOU love
✅ Submit reading minutes weekly
✅ Help Pembroke make history!

📚 Parents — Here’s the BEST part:
Your child’s reading can count for MULTIPLE programs at the same time!

The Pembroke Public Library Summer Reading Program (“Unearth a Story”) and Georgia Reads for America250 can overlap with Pembroke Reads 250.

That means:

📖 Reading logged for the library challenge can ALSO count toward Pembroke Reads 250
🇺🇸 Reading books from the Georgia America250 list can count too
🦕 Participate in the library’s Dino-themed summer events, prizes, and activities while helping Pembroke reach our citywide reading goal!

The Pembroke Public Library Summer Reading Program runs May 28 – July 15, and Georgia Reads for America250 registration remains open through July 4.

Visit the Pembroke Public Library or the library website for details on:
📚 Beanstack tracking
📖 Reading logs
🎟️ Summer events
🦖 Dino-themed programs
🇺🇸 America250 activities and book lists

Let’s celebrate America’s 250th birthday one book at a time and show what Pembroke readers can do!

Update: dog has been reunited with owner.

Has anyone in the Burkhalter, Warnell, Park Ave area lost their dog? Its a bigger dog. Go riding in the area of East Burkhalter close to Warnell I can't catch him and he doesn't want to move backwards out of the spot he is in.

The Pembroke Police Department would like to inform our community that we are aware of a popular high school senior activity called “Senior Assassin,” which involves using water guns, goggles, and inflatable floats in a game among high school seniors.

While we understand this is intended to be a fun and harmless game, we want to remind participants and the public to exercise good judgment and prioritize safety at all times. Please be mindful of your surroundings and avoid engaging in this activity in a way that could cause alarm or be mistaken as a real threat, especially in public areas, near roadways, or around businesses.

We also encourage parents to speak with their kiddos about participating responsibly and respectfully.

The Pembroke Police Department would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Reidsville Ga. Police Department for their generous donation of this vehicle and for the continued support they’ve shown to our department. This contribution will directly help us better serve and protect our community, and we genuinely appreciate the strong partnership between our agencies. Thank you again for your support and commitment to public safety.

🤝💙 Thank you, Reidsville PD!

The Reidsville Police Department recently donated one of our Ford Explorers that was no longer in service to the Pembroke Police Department.

This vehicle was originally donated to our agency, meaning no taxpayer funds were used or lost in this process.

We’re proud to pay it forward and support a fellow law enforcement agency by helping provide resources that can continue to serve their community.
Assisting our partners whenever and however we can is part of what strengthens public safety across our region.

Thank you to the Pembroke Police Department, and we’re glad this vehicle will continue to serve in law enforcement.

Good evening, everyone. There is a very well trained medium sized dog that has gotten loose in the Pembroke area. If you believe it is your furbaby, contact Bryan County dispatch at 912-756-3101 and ask for an officer to contact you back. We want a very good identifying description of the dog before handing it over.
