Today, we proudly welcome our newest member of the Pembroke Police Department as they take the oath and officially begin their journey in serving the Town of Pembroke.
Becoming a law enforcement officer is more than simply putting on a uniform and badge. It is a commitment to serve with honor, protect with courage, lead by example, and treat every member of our community with dignity and respect.
We are proud to officially have you as part of our PPD family. Your decision to dedicate yourself to the safety and well-being of others is a responsibility we do not take lightly, and we look forward to watching you grow and succeed as an officer.
As you begin this new chapter, always remember that the badge you wear represents the trust placed in you by the citizens you serve. Wear it with pride, integrity, humility, and honor.

Pembroke Police Department Seeks Public's Assistance in Identifying a Potential Witness in Ongoing Homicide Investigation
The Pembroke Police Department continues to actively investigate the homicide of Jaleel Sinclair, which occurred during the early morning hours of July 4, 2026, in downtown
Pembroke.
Since the beginning of this investigation, detectives have been working tirelessly to identify those responsible and bring justice to the victim and his family. As part of these ongoing efforts, investigators are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the individual shown below. Currently, this individual is believed to be a potential witness and is not considered a suspect. Detectives are simply seeking to speak with this person because they
may possess information that could assist in advancing the investigation. The Pembroke Police Department understands the concern this incident has caused within our community. We remain fully committed to conducting a professional, impartial, and
exhaustive investigation. Detectives are utilizing all available resources and working closely with our law enforcement partners to ensure every piece of evidence is thoroughly examined, and every credible lead is pursued. We appreciate the cooperation and patience of the public as we continue to follow every lead.
Our thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of Jaleel Sinclair during this difficult time. We remain committed to seeking justice for Mr. Sinclair and his family.

🚨Lumbee Homecoming Parade Safety Reminder
As we prepare to celebrate the 57th Annual Lumbee Homecoming Parade on Saturday, July 4, the Pembroke Police Department would like to remind everyone to help us make this a safe and enjoyable event for all.
North Carolina law prohibits carrying fi****ms at certain public assemblies, including parades.
North Carolina General Statute § 14-277.2 states that it is unlawful for any person participating in, affiliated with, or present as a spectator at a parade, funeral procession, picket line, or demonstration upon any public place owned or under the control of the State or any of its political subdivisions to willfully or intentionally possess or have immediate access to any dangerous weapon. Certain exceptions apply, such as for law enforcement officers and others specifically exempted by law.
Our officers will be present throughout the event to ensure everyone can safely enjoy this special celebration of our Lumbee heritage and community.
We appreciate your cooperation and encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly, look out for one another, and have a safe and memorable Homecoming!

The Sandhills Chapter of the North Carolina Police Benevolent Association and the Police Benevolent Foundation are asking for your support and financial assistance for the family of Deputy Draper Bost of the Columbus County (NC) Sheriff’s Office.

On June 25th, Deputy Bost was killed when he was struck by a tractor trailer while assisting and escorting an NCDOT subcontracting crew on U.S. 74-76 in Hallsboro, NC. Deputy Bost was sitting in his patrol vehicle with his emergency equipment activated in the median when he was struck.

Deputy Bost served with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office for eight years and was assigned as a School Resource Officer at South Columbus High School. School Resource Officers traditionally serve in different capacities during the summer months when students are out of school.

Deputy Bost was heavily involved with the DARE program and embraced his role with enthusiasm, including wearing a lion costume for students and community events. During a media interview, Columbus County Sheriff Bill Rogers reflected on Deputy Bost’s impact, saying, “Whenever you’d see the lion dancing around at a DARE program, that was him. He was always our lion.” Sheriff Rogers added that Deputy Bost was always there for the kids, including at ball games and parades.

Deputy Bost is survived by his wife, Jayden, and two children, along with his parents.

The family greatly appreciates the support, prayers, and generosity of the community during this difficult time.

Tylun Brooks has been LOCATED and is SAFE. He has spoken with his family and have advised them of his status. We want thank our community and our Facebook Family for everything that you have done to help locate this young man.

MISSING JUVENILE ALERT: LOCATED!!
The Pembroke Police Department is requesting the public's assistance in locating Tylun Brooks, a 16-year-old juvenile who has been reported missing.
Physical Description:
• Blue eyes
• Long, curly dark brown hair that often covers his face
• Approximately 5'5" tall
• Light complexion
• Approximately 107 pounds
• No known tattoos or piercings
• Sores on his knuckles from punching a dresser inside the residence
Last Seen Wearing:
• Dark-colored shirt
• Dark blue or black athletic shorts extending to the knees
• White socks
• Light tan Croc-style sandals
Last Known Location:
Tylun was last seen in the area of Candy Park Road, walking toward the Marathon gas station on NC Highway 711.
Tylun's whereabouts are currently unknown, and there is concern for his safety and well-being. Anyone who has seen Tylun or has information regarding his location is asked to contact the Pembroke Police Department immediately.
