Celebrate National Library Week 2026 - April 19th thru April 25th - by "Finding Your Joy" at the library! Join us on Tuesday, April 21st for D.E.A.R. Day - drop everything and read at the library for 20 minutes and the librarian will give you a sweet treat! Join us for a "Joyful Story Time" on Saturday, April 25th at 10 a.m. for preschool thru 4th grades where we will celebrate earth day, arbor day, spring and libraries! Enjoy "Fine Free" days thru the end of April - with no fines be charged on books returned during these 12 days. Return those long overdue books now! (Sorry, this does not apply to previously accrued fines or fees on damaged books.) Stop in and let us know what you find joyful at the library!

In real Iditarod news – the winner of the 2026 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race was Jesse Holmes. This is the second year in a row he has won the race. He completed this year’s race in 9 days 7 hours 32 minutes and 51 seconds. His lead dogs are named Zeus and Polar. He completed the race on Tuesday, March 17.

Take the IditaREAD Challenge at your library! Can you read 1000 minutes in 6 weeks? In honor of the Iditarod dog sled race, which is approximately 1000 miles long, we are challenging readers to the IditaREAD. 1000 minutes in 6 weeks for 4th graders thru adults AND 1000 pages in 6 weeks for Preschool thru 3rd graders. The challenge lasts from Feb 15 thru March 30. Pick up your racing sheet log at the library today or track your reading online with the Reader Zone app - enter code 'ddegt'. Call the library if you have questions. Readers who finish the challenge will receive a small treat/prize and have their name placed in a drawing for larger prizes. Let the race begin!
