Thank you Deputy Gill and Blatchford of the Dixon County Sheriff’s Office for the K9 demonstration today. Deputies Gill and Blatchford stopped by the Pender School District today and talked to the kids about the work they do with their K9 partners everyday. This demonstration was incorporated as part of the Pender Schools red ribbon week.

On Sept. 29, 2025, Dixon County Deputy Sheriff Blatchford and K-9 Tank provided critical assistance to the FBI, Thurston County Sheriffs Office, BIA, and NSP with their resources (drone, plane, and ground troops) in apprehending a male suspect with federal warrants. The male subject fled into a corn field, where K-9 Tank successfully tracked him down, resulting in the suspect's arrest and subsequent custody. Deputy Blatchford and K-9 Tank are commended for their exemplary service.

The Thurston County Courthouse will be closed on Tuesday 9/30/2025 until 1:00 pm, so staff may attend the funeral for County Clerk, Patty Bessmer.

The funeral will be at 1030am at St. John's Catholic Church in Pender.
