BIA UMATILLA AGENCY firefighters Marcus Ramos and Jeff Newby just returned from OSAGE Nation to assist with wildfires on their reservation. During the 14 day assignment they initial attacked 16 fires.

Today the BIA and Umatilla Agency Fire and Fuels program participated in the Pendleton Round Up Parade kicking off the start to the Round Up Week! Firefighters Bryson Spino and Jeff Newby drove the agencies Type Four heavy engine through the parade route.

Monday July 24th the BIA Fire and Fuels crew along with ODF-Pendleton participated in the helicopter familiarization provided by the Oregon Army National Guard.

On July 15th at around 1600 the BIA-OR-UMA Fire and Fuels crew responded to a 110 acre fire off Cayuse Road and Fowler Lane. With the assistance of ODF Tribal Fire Department Pendleton Fire Department Pilot Rock Rural Fire and East Umatilla Fire Department the fire was stopped and no structures were lost.

Please welcome Tristan Spencer the new BIA Engine Boss. Tristan comes to use from the Yakima reservation Fuels program. With his knowledge of Fuels and Fuels Management he will be a great asset to the Fire Management Program and the Umatilla Agency.
