Tonight, Pendleton City Council will consider two items regarding homelessness and a planned shelter operated by Neighbor 2 Neighbor, the nonprofit organization that has operated Pendleton’s Warming Shelter for 15 years.

What is on the City Council agenda:
1. A discussion about supporting Neighbor 2 Neighbor’s Warming Shelter Grant to expand shelter operations
2. Consideration (vote) on an emergency declaration that would allow to exempt certain fees and restrictions that could otherwise delay the shelter’s operation

What is not on the agenda and not within the City Council’s decision-making authority:
1. Whether or not Neighbor 2 Neighbor should open and operate a shelter.
2. How Neighbor 2 Neighbor will operate the shelter or manage its funding.
3. Where the shelter should be located.

The Arts Commission is charged with providing recommendations to the City Council for local policy, strategic planning, and advice on public art in Pendleton.

And that’s a wrap on the 2026 season at the Pendleton Aquatic Center. Thank you to everyone who has supported us this year including the Facilities, Finance, HR, Public Works, Police, Fire and numerous other departments in the City of Pendleton. We could not have done this without you. To the lifeguards, swim instructors, and concessions/admissions crew, you are the lifeblood of this place and make showing up at work the fun adventure it is every day. And most importantly, to all our patrons, thank you for loving this place! We are blessed in Eastern Oregon to have this incredible facility and are grateful you continue to come back, week-after-week and year-after-year.

Can’t wait to see you all in 2027!
