Coffee for Cops™️ was securing items at a local Wegman’s when it became apparent that Quentin Tan and his partner from Penfield Webster EMS needed to be cited for staging in the fire lane.

Dunkin’ Donuts gift cards and a prayer for safety and encouragement were immediately dispatched as well as handshakes for appreciation!

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, Penfield Webster EMS responded alongside the West Webster Fire Department, Webster Volunteer Fire Department, and Penfield, NY Fire Company, as well as numerous mutual aid agencies, to the fire at Bauman’s Farm in Webster.

For generations, Bauman’s Farm has been part of life in Webster. From fresh produce, flowers, and baked goods to Christmas trees, pumpkin picking, strawberry picking, and first jobs for countless local students, it has been a place where memories were made and traditions were born.

Our thoughts are with the Bauman family, their employees, and everyone affected by this devastating loss. We are grateful for the teamwork, professionalism, and dedication shown by the West Webster, Webster, and Penfield Fire Departments, our mutual aid partners, and every first responder who worked tirelessly throughout the incident. A special thank you to Perinton Ambulance for providing coverage in our district while our crews remained committed to the scene.

Today, we remember and honor Dennis Mietz for his extraordinary dedication to Brighton Volunteer Ambulance, the EMS profession, and the community he faithfully served for nearly four decades. His leadership, generosity, and commitment to serving others left an immeasurable mark on those who knew him and worked alongside him. The members of Penfield-Webster EMS extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the entire Brighton Volunteer Ambulance family during this difficult time.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Brighton Volunteer Ambulance (BVA) Board of Directors President, Dennis Mietz.

Dennis joined BVA in 1988 and dedicated 38 years of service to our community and to the BVA family. He was the longest‑serving member of BVA, spending most of those years volunteering countless hours on the BVA Board of Directors. If there was a task that needed to be done, Dennis was the first to step forward without hesitation.

Throughout his career in EMS, Dennis served as an EMT and Critical Care EMT logging 30,000 hours on BVA ambulances. During that time, he delivered eight babies, saved 120 lives, and touched countless more. He was known not only for his business acumen and leadership, but for the wisdom he shared with others — reminding us often to be available for people and truly listen to them. Even as his health declined, Dennis continued to give everything he had to serve BVA. He cared deeply for BVA, our employees and the Brighton community in which he lived.

Dennis was a man of many talents and interests. He was not only a successful entrepreneur but had also been a commercial airline pilot and played Division 1 hockey. More importantly, Dennis was a leader, a mentor, a friend, and a cherished member of the BVA family. His impact on BVA and on everyone who knew him cannot be measured. BVA is the agency it is today in large part because of Dennis, and he will be dearly missed.

On behalf of everyone at Penfield-Webster EMS, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the members of the Rochester Fire Department and the family and friends of Lieutenant John Joseph “JJ” during this incredibly difficult time. We are grateful for his years of selfless service to his community and the fire service. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, the people he mentored, and everyone who had the privilege of serving alongside him. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those mourning this tremendous loss.

The Rochester Fire Department mourns the passing of Lieutenant John "JJ" Joseph.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, loved ones, and every member of the Rochester Fire Department as we grieve the loss of our beloved brother.

The bond shared by firefighters extends far beyond the walls of the firehouse. In moments like these, we are reminded that we are a family, united by service, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to one another.

On behalf of the Rochester Fire Department, we extend our deepest condolences to all who are mourning this tremendous loss. May Lieutenant Joseph's memory be a source of strength and comfort to all who knew him, and may his example continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps.
