This morning, Beckwourth Peak FPD, along with Graeagle Fire Department and Peninsula Fire Protection District were deployed to assist in suppressing the Hawk Fire located in Reno. Task Force 3129 (TF-3129) left this morning with two water tenders, 2 brush trucks, and a task force leader. The fire is currently mapped at 15,000 acres with 0% containment. OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT & APPRECIATION
Teamwork makes the dream work—
The Peninsula Fire Protection District is excited to share that our fleet has expanded with the arrival of a Type 3 Wildland Fire Engine.
Designed specifically for rural and forest terrain, this engine will allow our crews to quickly access fires in tight or remote areas where structural engines cannot go.
An acquisition like this requires extensive coordination. We would like to publicly recognize and thank Chief Kyle Heggstrom of the Linda Fire Dept, for his gracious reciprocity. We would also like to thank Chief Robert Gray and Captain Troy Carter of Peninsula Fire for their vital roles in securing this asset. Captain Ryland Arbuckle and B shift for outfitting the engine, Nicholas McBride of LASCO Sign & Screenprinting of Susanville for removal, manufacturing and installation of decals. Because of their combined efforts and dedication to shared public safety goals, our district is safer, stronger, and more resilient.

This week we’re proud to highlight one of our own…Captain Troy Carter!

As a graduate with an Associate of Fire Science degree and with decades of service as a volunteer, reserve, and full-time firefighter, he is proud to serve our community as Fire Captain of C-Shift and President of the Peninsula Fireman’s Association.
In addition to his leadership roles, he manages our department’s vehicle maintenance, building facilities, and radio communication systems to keep our crew safe and ready.

His family has deep roots in Plumas County, and there is truly no better place to live and enjoy outdoor activities together. It is an absolute honor for him to protect the region his family has called home for generations.

Thank you for your leadership and dedication — we’re lucky to have you on the Peninsula Fire team! 👨‍🚒

Meet your Firefighter Friday with Captain Ryland Arbuckle!

A Butte Fire Academy graduate with an A.S. in Fire Science & Paramedicine, Ryland started with Peninsula Fire in 2011. He’s currently assigned “B” shift and the Training and Recruitment Captain.
Off duty, he enjoys time with his wife and young son while staying active and woodworking.
